17 thousand members but only 600 or so are active? Does that mean posts in the last few weeks or so? I guess a forum attracts it's regulars, and others join for a one-off fight over their favourite barney... and then maybe just leave after that one topic.

(Or maybe were even banned? I know of a few that were banned from here for their trolling in global warming threads, but there's probably all sorts of other topics that attract similar angst. Creation v Evolution?)

Or maybe other members just get too busy and life moves on??

I think it's "members who have posted in the last 90 days".

Yeah, people get busy, and even us regulars on the internet have to spread our interests. The internet is a big place.

Good idea. We should probably send out some info to everyone regarding the new forum address etc. When time allows... :)

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.

When we launched in May 2000, we wanted to create a site to share science-related content of all kinds on the web. As time passed, our site turned into a pure science forum with lots of cool people.

So we kept the name Hypography and the cool science forum community - and aim to be a friendly place for discussion of science topics of all kinds.
