If you are like me, you struggle to find a reliable online source for science news that covers a broad range of interests but isn't full of woo. Perhaps you've seen how Pandora allows a user to create their own music channels by filtering out unwanted music and allowing the algorithm to offer new music that is likely to fit your tastes. Apply that same concept to an RSS feed of a wide swath of internet sources and you end up with Trap!t. There are many pre-made categories to choose from, including far more than just science, or you can create your own. I've just started using it, but one of my favorite science bloggers, Ethan Siegel is an editor of the Science and Health sections, and I hope the project lives up to its potential.
You have to create an account, either through a facebook or twitter login or through an email account, and then you either select the pre-made "traps" that interest you or create your own by doing a search similar to a google search and then filtering articles using either a thumbs up for approval or thumbs down and selecting whether the article is uninteresting, that you don't trust the source, or that it is spam.
