Do you speak Hebrew? Do you know anyone who does? I need to learn a few words, and would really appreciate some help. :)

I work with a team in Israel. While it would be a very strange question and vastly different from our normal day-to-day exchanges, I'm sure they'd be glad to help if I asked. ???

Thanks! :hihi: The love of my life (who I only recently met; interesting story I might tell you all someday) was born in Israel, and although we both speak English fluently (it's his first language), I'd like to learn some Hebrew.

Shalom.

Careful though, the pronunciation is the stickler. I have some Jewish relatives, and listening to their reading from the Torah during their mitzfahs was interesting.

Ya it's tricky, but it's a beautiful language. I can see why Chac would want to learn it. I'm just familiar with a few words from listening to a Messianic Jew named Michael Rood.

I came across this website where you can get free Hebrew lessons:
http://foundationstone.com.au/

I've also ordered a book and CD from a local bookshop, but it will take another two weeks to get here.

I was about to recommend Foundation Stone. I'm pretty sure it's been given props by the Sydney Beth Din. I could just be insane, though.

Well, the teach-yourself Hebrew book wasn't that much help. Also, I've been a lazy student! So last week I enrolled for a beginner's course at university. Hopefully that will be more comprehensive and also give me the necessary incentive.

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.

When we launched in May 2000, we wanted to create a site to share science-related content of all kinds on the web. As time passed, our site turned into a pure science forum with lots of cool people.

So we kept the name Hypography and the cool science forum community - and aim to be a friendly place for discussion of science topics of all kinds.
