So then god doesn't hope for, and want me to, believe in him so he isn't forced to condemn me to an eternity of pain and misery in hell after I die? :clue:

    Whew, thank god. :)

sorry if someone already asked this question, but I'm going to reverse your question:

    does god come from hope?
  3. In Topic: Urantia Book - Who Could've Hoaxed This?

I just read over a bit of the book's forward and one thing I can tell you almost for certain, it's most likely written by freemasons, it really has a lot of masonic phrases in it. No, I'm not one of those conspiracy theorists, I'm a freemason myself.

As far as homosexuality in other faiths, I don't think their are Jewish or Christian governments still executing people for homosexuality.

I think that's because there are no jewish or christian governments.

    1) How is the existence of varying beliefs reconciled theologically?
    2) What are the various benefits and problems associated with resolving these conflicts?

Sorry, i haven't read any of the responses yet, but here are my responses...

    1. The other religions are false and were started and inspired by the devil, satan, <insert your own anti-deity here>, etc. in order to turn people away from the good deity.

    2. the benefits are plain, if you don't believe me, you are going to burn for all eternity, so you are now hooked and scared to think for yourself. The problems are also plain, if the other religion is older and has more followers, people tend to think that it is more correct, so I guess it makes it harder for new religions to start. This is why the Christians and Muslims chose to say they were based on the jewish book because it was old, everyone wants to be able to say that there religion goes back to before the great flood aka the epic of gilgamesh.

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.

When we launched in May 2000, we wanted to create a site to share science-related content of all kinds on the web. As time passed, our site turned into a pure science forum with lots of cool people.

So we kept the name Hypography and the cool science forum community - and aim to be a friendly place for discussion of science topics of all kinds.
