  1. In Topic: Multiple dimensions beyond 3?

    20 May 2005 - 09:55 PM

I think that dimensions are about 10, what I don't know is how are they so?
and according to what the theory is based on, there could be a lot more than 10 dimensions out there.

is 1 dimensional possible, what is it?

what did you mean by that?
maybe I didn't understand what you're getting at, but,
a curve is a one dimensional manifold.
  2. In Topic: chance and evolution

Some evolutionists say that evolution doesn't happen by chance. I ask if it isn't by chance, then how else has it or does it happen?

evolution doesn't happen by chance, it happens due to changes in the life style or in changes in the demands of the living beings, and when these affects continue for a long time, changes in these livings start to take place and this is what we call evolution
  3. In Topic: How tall should I be?

The reason why I want to be about 6.3-6.4 ft is because I play football as a wide receiver so I want to be big fast and massive

you are 14 now, you are still growing, you will continue to grow until you're about 18, so you will get taller, you have 4 years to get taller and I think that you will gain between 1.5 and 2.5 inches.

this is all just my opinion i choose to add on this subject. :note:

actually, even hypothetical theories are based on facts, they mayor may not be proven as facts, but they have some rules to be called theories and these rules include being based on facts.
I think your statement above is accurate in the "opinion" part, you know it's not wrong to state what you think, but you must name your statement as what it really is

space and the universe is either to big to comprehend, or is infinite

space is deferent from the universe, so you can't mention them as one thing, and "big to Comprehend" is way much different than "infinite", this is because big is a relativity statement, this means that some thing could be "big to Comprehend" compared to something, but can be relatively small compared to another thing.

I believe that in another thread having to do with atoms, smallest particles, etc., mention was made in reference to an instance in which an entire system can engulf itself and start back at the beginning. for instance: atoms>earth>solarsystem>galaxy>universe>interactions of multiple universes>....names forthings begin to run out about here, but things could be so collosal that it could be decided that there is no end. i know my example does not justify a system engulfing itself, but i, in my own mind, cannot decide how that sort of a system could possibly work. (i think i may go off somewhere and question dimensions....)

yes, based on observation of atoms, solar system and galaxies, we can say that every system is included in another system.
would that mean that the number of systems in infinite while every system on its own is finite?

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.

When we launched in May 2000, we wanted to create a site to share science-related content of all kinds on the web. As time passed, our site turned into a pure science forum with lots of cool people.

So we kept the name Hypography and the cool science forum community - and aim to be a friendly place for discussion of science topics of all kinds.
