How will the world end? Not with a bang but a whimper in my opinion.

Look how peace is being maintained in Saudi Arabia and even The UK and how these countries keep their economies running. Welfare packages stop the general population revolting but it leads to a need for workers to do the menial work that their own countrymen won't. In pour the grateful poor from poorer countries. We see it in Britain too - first it was immigrants from the Caribbean in the fifties, more recently Poles. In America it started off as immigrants from Europe (send us your poor) - currently it is wetbacks from Mexico. This is probably how other civilizations crumbled too - from Rome, through China and South America too (The Maya deserting the city states and going back to the land). I believe it also explains the class war and the peace (The bit of rough on the side). To me it is the crumbling of the hard, disciplined masculine kingdoms, into permissive, feminine empires (This is not a criticism but an observation of evolution and devolution in progress - in other words that is just how it is (fact), not that is how it should or shouldn't be).

This is an accurate, and valuable, analysis of what's happening to the world. Unfortunately, it's politically incorrect. You think you can get away with posting stuff like that?

It offends against all Orthodox Left-wing Opinion. It's like a Russian posting a criticism of Stalin in 1936. Off to the Gulag with you!

Your post is obviously true, but truth doesn't matter these days. Everyone is concerned with keeping their head down.

Windmills consigned to the dustbin of history? Solar power too? So are you advocating solely for burning carbon and producing plutonium from uranium?

That's of course way off topic, and I was hoping you could try to justify your rather remarkably simplistic generalization with some kind of justification. Can you say something about it that might lead us to believe that you're doing something here that's a bit more than simply saying something silly in order to poke people and annoy them?

In re-reading your responses, it could also be assumed that your intent was to say that Stalin and Hitler were unblemished examples of governmental virtue like FDR and Churchill, but that's a bit of a stretch too.

    Buffy

Buffy, I must admit you're quite challenging for a woman. However you can't compete with real men, like CraigD. He bestrides the board like a colossus. I hugely admire him. You are doing the best you can, as a woman. And that's pretty good, though second rate compared to Craig.

However, please continue, as female thoughts are always entertaining. They allow us men to enjoy our superiority.

Craig's post as always, is full of facts, and insights.

However, I'd like to ask again this question:

Suppose we saw 3 pictures of babies:

    Picture 1: black African
    Picture 2: yellow Chinese
    Picture 3: white American

Which picture would really and truly, look the most attractive, aesthetic, and most human?

Is the sky green over across the pond, Mr. MacPhee

Ms. Buffy, the pond is coated with sky-green slime on both sides. But the situation looks fracking good! The windmills will soon be consigned to the dustbin of history.

Hi! Why not visit my thread in the Space forum? I was also disappointed when the Americans retreated from space.

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.

When we launched in May 2000, we wanted to create a site to share science-related content of all kinds on the web. As time passed, our site turned into a pure science forum with lots of cool people.

So we kept the name Hypography and the cool science forum community - and aim to be a friendly place for discussion of science topics of all kinds.
