Kings Theatre, Southsea - History of the theatre
  5. 3 ways of how to make use of a beech tree

    06 December 2006 - 12:46 AM

1.heres a simple recipe to make beach gin a delicous green drink from the leaves of a beach.
in spring go to a beech tree and pick a bucket full of new leaves that are fresh and slightly translucent anf very waxy go home wash the leaves to remove bugs then pack them tightly in a qautre full bottle of gin until you cant fit any more in. Wait until mid summer of 3 months or so then pour the gin out and it should if all went well taste gorgeos.

    2. Use it for enviromentally freindly insulation.
in late autuam go find a large mature beech tree and take along a rake and a load of sacks rake up the fallen leaves and then take it home and use it as free insulation for sheds and the likes. However you will have to change the insulation every year you will get free ground cover not compost though as beech leaves are waxy and do not rot as other leaves do.

    3. need some oil to cook with or use in a lamp beech oil for you
collect a larrge supplys or beech nuts remove the kernals and then crush the nut extracting the oil which can be used for cooking fire starting and light as it burns brightly perfect for winter hiking when tinder wont get that fdire started.

All these uses have been picked up on my country travels so thankyou to whoever told me them.

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.

When we launched in May 2000, we wanted to create a site to share science-related content of all kinds on the web. As time passed, our site turned into a pure science forum with lots of cool people.

So we kept the name Hypography and the cool science forum community - and aim to be a friendly place for discussion of science topics of all kinds.
