that was a little too flip. my genuine thanks for taking an interest in my forest-in-name-only. i miss it and have few kind words for any of the folks officially involved with it. how simply simple it would be for them to join here & send me a private message. i notice the thread continues to get numerous views & i'll wager no small number of those views originate from said involved folks. who we gonna call? :ghost: thnx again Doug. :turtle:

my pleasure. und danke right back. where do you think my ammassment of knowledge comes from, if not from such little gems as yours from here & there? if there's any wisdom in it, it is soley a function of how long i have been at it. :hihi: if i were to wax philosophic on some topic, it might be the idea that knowledge shared is never diminished, and when held in a mind, it is massless. but then, i would never do such a thing as wax philosophic, so the point is moot. :hyper: well, then; i'm off like a dirty sock. . . . . . :turtle:

I lived in Winter Park (Orlando) FL in 1979. When it got down to 45 degrees, I wore a sweater to work. Others wore sweaters, jackets, overcoats, caps, gloves -- and STILL shivered uncontrollably for half an hour before they could start peeling the layers off.  You guys are such wussies.

didn't know if you caught my reply to the pic comment, so here it is again. but i added a wicked pedantic link. :D
not currently erupting. :whew: though, it could. the cloud is called a "lenticular cloud" and they form as low level winds strike the mountain & rise up the slope. another "cloud" effect at or near the peak is formed on the lee side & is composed of snow blown off the windward. it also gives the appearance of erruptive activity. :D
Lenticular cloud - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.

When we launched in May 2000, we wanted to create a site to share science-related content of all kinds on the web. As time passed, our site turned into a pure science forum with lots of cool people.

So we kept the name Hypography and the cool science forum community - and aim to be a friendly place for discussion of science topics of all kinds.
