Thanks for your comment; however, one should not depreciate "squirrel thought". Though such conclusions cannot be shown to be internally consistent they are none the less the true source of our worldviews which you have to admit work quite well. They have been developed through survival and thus are pretty consistent with survival (with an occational error here and there). What I mean here is that it is exactly the illogical behavior we need to be careful about changing: i.e., when you don't understand why you react in a certain way, don't be quick to change; it could be a dangerous thing to do. I have said somewhere that logical analysis is valuable but, when my life is on the line, I don't believe logic is the way to go. I would much rather go with my gut. So there is a certain value to holding on to things that don't seem to fit; perhaps they do fit and we just don't understand why.

I noticed in the thread about beliefs we seem to share the same concepts, so I had to check out your age, and yap, we come from the same cohort.

Hypography?

Hypography [n.]: A combination of "hyperlink" and "bibliography" - ie, a list of links to electronic documents. Comparable to discography and bibliography, but not cartography.

When we launched in May 2000, we wanted to create a site to share science-related content of all kinds on the web. As time passed, our site turned into a pure science forum with lots of cool people.

So we kept the name Hypography and the cool science forum community - and aim to be a friendly place for discussion of science topics of all kinds.
