  1. I think hallucinogens may play a role in treating some conditions. That said, I believe they cross the line and should be very carefully controlled. So if LSD could cure cancer, sure, but if it might help treat anxiety, probably not. Actually, a popular TV show, Law and Order, recently highlighted ibogan as a treatment for addiction. It made it seem like it was a magical wonder drug that could with one hit permanently treat a serious addict. Felt a little inaccurate.
  2. The fact is that cancer disappears all the time - your cells are constantly undergoing dangerous mutations and commiting apoptosis - programed cellular suicide - or being eradicated by the immune system. Of course, when a cancer reaches the life threatening phase it has likely undergone a variety of mutations that make it resistant to treatment or clearance by the body. That said, I believe that 1/60,000 end-stage cancers spontaneously disappear. Especially recall hearing about someone with cancer combating another serious illness and the intense immune response happily curing both conditions! It's miraculous, but not unheard of.
