what an interesting post! (interesting enough to cause me to take a look through my [vast] music library and post about it.) unfortunately, i only found a handful of selections of "potentials", the most viable one being perhaps being, "mr. roboto" by styx. i'm not certain that it meets the specific criteria for your set list, but i do wish you all the best should you ever get the chance to perform any of them. :)

happy birthday moontanman. :) i hope your day has been filled with lots of love, friendship and maybe even some good food and drink!

there used to be an option (at the bottom of the page) that allowed the forum to be viewed in the old format. now i can't seem to find it. has this feature been discontinued? or have i simply missed it? :)
-
indeed it is.. :phones: the character just never really caught my attention or interest. @ moontanman: thanks for the movie tip. :D
-
 lol, apparently not.. but seriously, i don't feel deprived at all. :)

i must be the only person on the planet that's never seen a bond movie.

lol, i just beat my own score while listening to one of my favorite musical groups. actually .. a rather appropriate forum listening experience. and now, back to the arcade!

here's a sampling of guitar virtuosos celedonio and pepe romero from the romeros guitar quintet. :)

*coughs* well, not everybody has that extra hour. as an american in the southwest, i accept your challenge and reject daylight savings time by drinking a beer in your honor and demand that, in return, you actually eat that one pound of *candy. :) but seriously (fortunately!) i won't be having to change my clock(s). ________________ *includes but not limited to trick-or-treat candy.

ok, has been suck in my head all week! lol, i just found the kinks as well. :hyper:

well, i just got back from my trip to the bookstore and was surprised to find seven pratchett books–all hardback copies! unfortunately, i was only able to pick up three of them :phones: since it's the beginning of the month and i've got a rent obligation to meet. anyway, if those other four books are stlll there in the middle of the month, i'm going to pick them up. my three new pratchett finds: mort, sourcery and moving pictures. i think tonight i'll give the arcade a rest and do a bit of reading instead. :)

well, i am pleased to report that i've just wasted about two hours (+/-) in the arcade. :singer: i believe that a long day at the office justifies a long time in the arcade, right? fwiw, i fully expect my first place titles to be ripped from my possession by no later than tomorrow afternoon. :hihi:

surprisingly, pyramids and witches abroad were the two first books i bought by pratchett. ;) sorry about that, i don't know how i overlooked it but i have fixed it. the author is gregory macguire. i rarely lend these books out but when i do, i make sure :hyper: i get them back! my first two pratchett buys came with the old covers. those old covers have incredible artwork and i agree that they are indeed hard to find these days without paying top dollar. :( i also re-read his books very frequently. i consider them my 'go to' books. when i don't have anything new to read, i dig out the a pratchett and begin reading. i can't say i've a favorite as i find all of his characters unforgettable and (in my mind, at least) stick with you for days afterwards. while i agree that he is a master when it comes to layering a story, i think his true gift lies in the ability to accurately portray the human spirit.. in all its great and terrible facets. i plan on hitting up the bookstore on by the weekend to see what i can find. even if the store has a book with a newer cover, i still buy it.. but he is rather popular and it's difficult just finding books; this is especially true in places that specialize in used books. (i hate paying new book prices!)

tormod!! i came in here to give you a HUGE :) thumbsup for the new awesome arcade games! i'm having SO much fun! THANK YOU! edit: um, i just realized this probably shouldn't be in the 'rant' thread.. sorry!

another mac user here. i tend to use safari in the arcade and firefox for general browsing.

i apologize if i appeared to be complaining about the games–i wasn't. while i am a bit competitive in my day to day life, i mostly use the arcade to wind down from the work day. i'm not so much concerned about the numbers as i am about relieving aggravation, but i am pleased :) to know that new arcade games are on the way! i tried that once (with the zombie game) but it didn't work for me. i had an active (second) tab that i refreshed every few minutes or so, but it didn't seem to work out since my score didn't get picked up anyway.

terry pratchett is one of my favorite authors, however i currently suffer from pratchett deficiency as i only own ten (maybe eleven) titles. i just might pick up another discworld novel by the middle of the week. wicked: the life and times of the wicked witch of the west http://www.amazon.com/Wicked-Life-Times-Witch-West/dp/0060391448 by gregory macguire i recently read wicked: the life and times of the wicked witch of the west. i really enjoyed the read. in some aspects it was very political, but it also had a healthy dose of fantasy. it's definitely not for children! while it reminded me a bit of 'animal farm' it also had all 'the wizard of oz' overtones, :hyper: even if they were a bit skewed. i can't post links, but you can find a detailed synopsis on the amazon website. american psycho http://www.amazon.com/American-Psycho-Bret-Easton-Ellis/dp/0679735771/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222718116&sr=1-1 by bret easton ellis while i've watched the movie 'american psycho' countless times i've never read the book even though it's been recommended to me numerous times. i just started it a couple of days ago but plan to wrap it up by the end of next week if not sooner! (update: i haven't made much progress on american psycho as i've been busy.)

i've had the time-out problem too. it happened to me all three times in the golf tourney. it wouldn't have mattered much since i my worst (best) golf score was a '50' and my worst (best) was a '32' which would have disqualified me anyway since the game picks up the high score. the next time i get a good golf score, i'll take a screen shot as proof! :hyper:

i listen to music on my computer almost exclusively via the iTunes, be it imported music from cds or internet radio. i also prefer to own music, but i like portability just as much lol, i live and breathe :) via my iPod shuffle™. the only drawback to importing music is that it really :) takes up a lot (18 gigs) of hard drive space. i'm currently scrobbling a live version of: honky tonk women by the rolling stones

OMGS! the arcade is so very cool! but i don't know what happened (crap!) maybe my internet is too slow, but i ended up with a 16k+ before i got killed on the 13 day of hell. in any event, thanks for the new feature! *thumbsup* more arcade action tomorrow for sure! :phones:

BBC: Why dying is forbidden in the Arctic
iViolet replied to Tormod's topic in Anthropology and Cultural Studies
oh boy, polar bears and university newbies? :) that sounds like a hazing waiting to happen. from article: :) wow! while i found that clip of text to be rather morbid, i can't help but wonder if it's just as morbid for me to wonder if they can do anything with that bit of influenza, or any other viruses (or bacteria) that might be recovered from the tissue samples. ok i admit it, maybe i -should- get out more. -
i've been reading threads since i posted my intro and i just heard the brain bell go ding. time to give it a rest. perusing the site was an enjoyable experience and already i look foward to resuming my quest for knowledge. should i bring a dish? some food for thought? i really didn't think about bringing a dish. i apologize for my backward ways. :naughty: thanks for the replies!
