Just a quick question: what do I have to do so that the formulas are not enumerated through all sections like (1),(2), etc.

But in the first section like (1.1),(1.2),etc and in the second like (2.1),(2.2),etc.

Also is this possible in the article class? Or do i have to choose the report or even the book class?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much, I figured it out after comparing the documents code with my code, you have to type before the begin{document}:

numberwithin{equation}{section}

and I guess if you replace section with subsection you get even the 1.1.2 for example.

You are right this document teaches a lot! Did i àunderstand right that you can make your own comands , for example if I want to shorten the left( to ( I do it just do it by typing: def({left(}
