Hao Asakura Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 I'm a highschool student in desprate need of tips for my generator project.I want to try to built an electric generator. Can anyone offer any tips, websites, or information? Please, I'd be really grateful. Quote
TINNY Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 hehe, hi there.Welcome to our forums. ermm.. oops! not my job! you might want to check this out:http://www.amasci.com/amateur/coilgen.html good luck:D Quote
alexander Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 there's also this:http://www.fortunecity.com/greenfield/bp/16/interference.htm this:http://www.scienceproject.com/A/projects/KITWG/index.asp and this:http://people.howstuffworks.com/hydropower-plant2.htm with a nice gif of how a hydropowered generator works plus, there's some info on a nuclear power generator:http://science.howstuffworks.com/nuclear-power.htm plus there are descussions on this forum about interesting power-generating ideas of great minds, i think that there are some pointed out in Tesla thread... Anyways, welcome to the forums! Quote
TINNY Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 the scienceproject one can be done in a few hours if you're that desperate. but you should try the nuclear power plant first. or how about a petrol-powered one. that should be cool. or perhaps, as tim mentioned, just use cooking oil instead Have fun! Freethinker Posted December 20, 2004 Report Posted December 20, 2004 A potatoe and two different metal nails. It generates electricity. One of my kids did one testing different veggies and metals and charting the results. Another simple one is one length of wire suspended over a magnet. Showing how direction of movement compared to mag lines makes a difference. Quote
Tim_Lou Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 what about chemical electric generator?get 2 beakers, one with a piece of zine, one with a piece of copper and filled with copper (II) nitrate, and connect the copper and zine, and put a salt bridge between the 2 beakers? or maybe with other chemicals....... alexander Posted December 21, 2004 Report Posted December 21, 2004 a stack of nickel and copper coins (an iterating sandwich) separated by parchment paper soaked in vinegar... what about a fission generator tim? then Hao can use E=mc^2 and all those nice complex formulae in the calculations (laws of thermodynamics and Maxwell's laws), that's bound to impress the teachers and get an A, no? Quote
Tim_Lou Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 lol... i dont think a high school project can be a fission reactor... it requires like 10 millions C for temperature..... i dont think the teacher will give an A for that.. instead, the teacher will call 911 and a couple FBIs come over and take care of everything.... An A-bomb, no less. :D Quote
