I stumbled onto this site through a web search on "TerraPreta soils" or "bio-char" or some such thing. I am very excited to learn more about this soil/charcoal/energy/CO2 sequestration topic and would like to devote some energy to working in this field (no pun intended).

 

I am concerned about global warming, political and economic forces that have run amuck, issues of war, peace and justice, and just how we might live sustainably on the spaceship earth.

 

30 years ago I was convinced we (humans) were in big trouble and headed for an ecological disaster that might result in our extinction and set my lifes course in the "alternative" direction. 15 years ago I began to believe I might "make it through" in relative security. Now, with the disasterous policies persued by the likes of the Bush administration, I have begun to fear for my own future again.

 

But, rather than fret about what a hopeless predicament we find ourselves in, I'm usually engage in rewarding work as a designer/builder/steward/homesteader. I'm addicted to NPR "talk" and as I'm at 1600 ft elevation in southern New Hampshire and can easily get 10 or 12 NPR stations (and they ain't playin' classical music no more) there's a lot opinions to be heard. I know, I know, I could turn it off but it is pretty easy to get sucked in as long as my self-employed activities aren't too demanding of my attention. And I don't watch TV at all, so there.

 

I'm 58, have a spouse, no children or pets . . . . . .

 

Is there a spell checker among all those "tools" up there?

Welcome to Hypography. There is a spell checker, but it must be downloaded (I believe. I do not use it myself). You can also copy/paste your response into MS Word or similar, perform the spell check, then copy/paste back.
