C1ay Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 If the all-perfect God is the Creator, why did he create the chance for something which he disagrees with... That remionds me of a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche. "Is man one of God's blunders? Or is God one of man's blunders?" Quote
modest Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 "Is man one of God's blunders? Or is God one of man's blunders?" Then say not man's imperfect, Heaven's in fault,Say rather man's as perfect as he ought. -Alexander Pope, essay on man ~modest Quote

Thunderbird Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. ~Albert Einstein Quote
freeztar Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 "It seems to me that the idea of a personal God is an anthropological concept which I cannot take seriously. I also cannot imagine some will or goal outside the human sphere. … Science has been charged with undermining morality, but the charge is unjust. A man’s ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death." - Albert Einstein Quote

Every body is evolving different aspects of being a human at varying phases, or stages. People are not all the same ether. Society actually works well this way it gives us all perspective to contras and compare our own lives with which to give us a choice of personal identity. Let me tell you about my day. A couple came in to our office they have been displaced by hurricane Katrina. They were given $650 for losing their home by the government. They were put up in a hotel for a while then kicked out. I could confirm this since I had been one of the people calling those individuals to tell them they had to reapply when I worked a contract for FEMA. They were living in a tent for a for a almost a year, logging lumber. They scrapped enough money together to by an old truck and camper and started off to Iowa were they were promised a good job , but when they got there the person had family problems and turned them away. They made as far as our small town before they ran out of gas and money and food. They where salt of the earth people it was a true grapes of Wrath moment, for all of us. I set to work looking for a job for the guy as his wife who offered to clean and vacuumed the offices. The girls in the office called the local churches for food and money we took a collection in the office picked up the food and loaded it the camper. They had a logging job and a campsite by afternoon. Thank you, God bless, you thank, God bless, They said over and over to us all. If it wasn’t for the Church in this equation it would not have been enough to save theses people from hunger and the street. They church people I and a coworker went to for the food are very kind, also poor and unsophisticated, some on this forum might look down on them as just not evolved. Quote

TheFaithfulStone Posted June 28, 2008 Report Posted June 28, 2008 So, you have more than one account, and also post here on Hypography as "Jim Colyer?" Why not? God himself has a whole bunch of sock-puppet accounts. There's the original YHWH, then there's just "God" or "the Lord" (but that's actually three accounts, but really there's only one account... there's "the Son" you see and also the... you know what - best just to leave that one alone for now.) And, then there's Allah - and God (or is it YHWH?) does this really funny thing where he pretends to pretty much be a total ******* for like half the Quran. Also, he switches back and forth from like "mad-dog-son-of-a-*****" to "wishy-washy-hippy" several times in the New Testament. Depends on what Pauline flame war he's involved in at the time. And he cares what you do in your bedroom (or in the kitchen, if you like) too. And he needs money. Lots and lots of money. And he wants to help you get that new job, so you'll have lots of money. He says things like "Yea, verily I say unto you..." Really? Seriously, I think God is a spam bot, and the universe is all one (more) complicated (more) f**ked up version of USENET.
