Don Blazys Posted January 31, 2010 Report Posted January 31, 2010 To: Buffy and Turtle, If you get the chance, check out Benny Goodman in the movie " A Song Is Born" with Danny Kaye and Virginia Mayo. He is so good, you have to see it to believe it. Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton....and the incredible Golden Gate Quartet are in it too. Speaking of the Golden Gate Quartet", if you Google search "Golden Gate Quartet, Mockingbird" and "Golden Gate Quartet, The General Jumped At Dawn" then you will see where Elvis (who was a big fan of theirs) got much of his influence. What's also surprising is that the word "groovy" is not from the 60's as so many believe. "Golden Gate Quartet, The General Jumped At Dawn" proves that it originated in the 30's and 40's! I tried to post these for you, but this laptop keeps malfunctioning. Don. Quote
Boerseun Posted February 1, 2010 Author Report Posted February 1, 2010 When I was in primary school, in the tiny little burg of Newcastle in the back-end of the boondocks just to the left of nowhere, in Natal province, South Africa, I had a buddy called Beukes Willemse. I lost touch with the guy went I moved to the Transvaal province and went to high school. Parents don't seem to consider their kids' social life very much when moving house, it seems. Nevertheless, I made contact with him again yesterday via Facebook, and apparently he's the lead singer in a band called Livingston, and they're all the rage in Germany. Nice band! Give it a go:YouTube - Livingston - Broken (Musicvideo) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epCnQjZfxIg&feature=related Quote
