freeztar Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Hendrix - Electric Ladyland (entire cd) :eek_big: I really can't decide which is better, Axis Bold as Love or Electric Ladyland. ;) Here's a sampling for those unaccustomed. enorbet2 Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Thanks Freeztar, I should've known it'd be you ;) Even though the original from Electric Ladyland is extremely hard to beat, the one you posted is new to me and pretty cool, sort of halfway between the polished finished piece and the called "rare" that hasn't been rare in 10 years that has him playing into a cassette deck by himself to "show the song to the guys". If you have it loud enough you can hear him rustle the paper he wrote it on, as well as Jimi whistling the effects he imagined right from jump street. I looked for the original, which is possibly his Opus Magnus but it seems DRM greed, maybe his half-sister Janie, have pulled down all the Ladyland stuff from YouTube. Grrrr! So while it's still up there here's two gems Awesome dreamy Villanova JunctionYouTube - Jimi Hendrix - Villanova Junction (Woodstock 69) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWYgP7rbRa0&feature=channel_page Heaviest Improv the one that baffled Miles Davis YouTube - Jimi Hendrix: Machine Gun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVvtIS2YGVI Get a downloader as they probably will be gone soon Quote
freeztar Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 We can't forget "If six was nine". So many good picks. Why the hell did he have to die so young? ;) YouTube - Easy Rider - Jimi Hendrix - If 6 Was 9 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xylaFXwoQS8 Quote
freeztar Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Yes it does ;) :eek_big: :eek2:Danny Carey is the man. YouTube - TOOL--Danny Carey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JVbFrl9wLBA The only drummer I love more is John Bonham. Quote
enorbet2 Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Have any of you seen this guy? This is nearly a new art form a musical montage that has been blended from disparate clips of differing styles and duration. Apparently he only had to shift pitch a few times but it's the incredible combination of music and video that makes it work - a sort of sampling on steroids.
