Tormod Posted March 4, 2007 Report Posted March 4, 2007 Time for the March photography contest. Theme: Engineering/Architecture (as chosen by our members) Submission Deadline: Saturday, March 24, 11:59PM GMT How to submit: You can submit up to 5 photos. Each must be in JPG format, no larger than 1280x1024 pixels, and no larger than 200Kb. You can *either* submit the picture as an attachment to a post in the Submissions thread (preferred), or (if you do not have sufficient attachment quotas) you can send it via e-mail to tormod at hypography dot com and I will post it for you. Photoshop and other software: It is perfectly fine to use ANY software you like to manipulate your image. This is not a purity contest. If you don't have any graphics software, you can get GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program for FREE, or you can download a 30-day trial of Adobe Photoshop CS2 (or try Photoshop Elements for something more bite-size). Restrictions: Only members of Hypography can participate (but lurkers are welcome to sign up to participate). Voting: Voting starts in a separate thread on February 25th. All members with a post count of 10 or more, plus those with fewer posts but who have participated in the contest, vote by listing their top 5 pictures, in descending order (favorite first), as in: 1. SuperDude: Bird2. CoolMiss: Snowfalletc The first gets 5 points, the second gets 4 points etc. Participants can not vote for themselves, and anyone who participates but does not vote will be disqualified! Voting deadline is March 31, so that we get one week. The winners will be announced on April 1. Copyrights: You own the copyright to your work. We reserve the right to use all submissions in our gallery when the competition is over. Prizes: There are, as always, prizes! 1st prizeA Hypography Sponsorship (no ads for a year!) and a [ame]http://www.cafepress.com/hypography.14505215[/ame] Two runner-ups receive Hypography Sponsorships. If the winner already has a sponsorship, we'll extend that sponsorship by one year. More prizes *may* be added later... ;) Quote
Tormod Posted March 9, 2007 Author Report Posted March 9, 2007 Come on folks, get your entries in! Our I'll be wiping the floor with your sorry excuses for "photographies"... :) Quote
Jay-qu Posted March 9, 2007 Report Posted March 9, 2007 As if your little church or whatever is going to beat my aqueduct! :D Its all part of the new strategy  Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 If nobody has any objections, I'll take over the voting process for this month's competition. I just wish there was more participation this round. It's rather skimpy compared to Feb. :hihi: Quote
freeztar Posted March 25, 2007 Report Posted March 25, 2007 If nobody has any objections, I'll take over the voting process for this month's competition. I just wish there was more participation this round. It's rather skimpy compared to Feb. I think the topic was a bit more difficult this month which might explain the lower turnout. I guess the thing to go for now is to get more people to vote than just those that participated/submitted. So go on and vote folks!(bribe requests may be sent to me via pm) :hihi: Quote
TheBigDog Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 I am voting tomorrow, after I wake up. Don't let me forget! Snow fort is going to make a huge dash to the front, and I don't want to forfeit by prize by forgetting to vote. Bill Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted March 30, 2007 Report Posted March 30, 2007 Yeah. I'll be voting later tonight... I've just been busy with the flu... and school and such. Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 This is a close one folks. I've been keeping a running spreadsheet this competition. Here are the standings so far if anyone is interested. Those that participated and voted have been highlighted, so we know that they're still in the competition. If the unhighlighted ones have not voted by the 31st, their entries will be disqualified. Quote
Jay-qu Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 its a three way tie! with monomer only a point off - it could go anyway from here  Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Alright! Here are the results. If someone would like to compile them into an official thread to declare the winners, you're more than welcome to. Quote
gribbon Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I don't get how the scoring system works...do you total up the number of points per submission? (So Sanctus would be 6?):( Thanks guys...:) ;) Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 It's the total number of points per submission. Sanctus does not have 6. Sanctus has 4 for one entry and 2 for another. Each entry is scored separately. Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 so is voting closed? Yes. I just don't have the power necessary to close the thread. And, if no one else is going to, I suppose I could officially announce winners. But since Tormod is responsible for prizes, I figured that I would wait. Quote
Tormod Posted April 2, 2007 Author Report Posted April 2, 2007 Sorry, I am basically offline these days due to a severe need to recover from jetlag and related sleeping problems! Feel free to act on my behalf, MB! Prizes will be sent by me and we can do the same prizes for an April contest. Quote
