Back2Reality Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 I hope everyone here has a high regard for logic, as I have been disappointed in other forums  I am a nihilist - thus I do not have any "beliefs" and have an open mind. Quote
Buffy Posted March 10, 2007 Report Posted March 10, 2007 Many of us do have a high regard for logic...but we keep an open mind about it! Do you have a particular area of science that you are interested in or are you a pure logician? How'd you find our little outpost? Have fun!Buffy Quote

How'd you find our little outpost? Have fun!Buffy I have a closed mind about logic - because I don't hold the view that sometime being illogical is better! But I have an open mind in that I know something that seems logical at first, may be replaced by an even more logical or better researched explanation. Most people find it very hard to change their minds on things. One thing I recently changed my mind on was the concept of "race". I have noticed a lot of people who trumpet about the fact that racial categorisation can be impossible due to the huge amount of genetic variety within so-called races, actually are only saying this for political reasons. And are closed minded hypocrites.Anyway I'd better stop going on!No I am not a logician, but I am a nihilist - and that is best summed up as:nihilism= fatalism->realism->idealism! Quote

If you haven’t read GEB, B2R, I recommend you do – the old (1979) “gold bible” has a lot to offer students of logic. Quote
TheBigDog Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Each time I read you name I get the Soul2Soul song in my head. Welcome to Hypography! Not as deep as Craig and Buffy's replies, but I am just a dog. Bill Quote
