Titas Aduksus Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 hmmm.... A bit like Alcoholics anonymous this one, I come in and say.. Hello everybody, my name is Titas Aduksus, I am a 53 year old retired C eng. Electronics. I have worked on the space shuttle project, for IBM and on the design development of those nasty pointed thingies that shoot down planes. Delighted that you don't want to see 'untestable theories' in your main science sections, bye bye Hawking radiation, 75% of quantum physics and a whole host of other things... yes I have a sense of humour. I am a member of Mensa and have published several technical articles in their (UK) magazine. I have been banned (censored) from various forums in the past for daring to sugget not all 'scientific data' is actually scientific some of it is pure crap, for pointing out the difference between hypothesis theory and fact. Now I am very sensitive when it comes to my posts being butchered by moderators who fail to understand what I have written, so if you are reading this chaps, please either leave it or delete it - NO butchery! - if this is unacceptable to you please PM me and I'll bugger off pretty smartish! - thnx! ANother little thing I noticed when reading the rules was that one is (rightly) expected to back ones data/claims etc - no problem, good science! - but I'll not be quoting from Wiki (nor will I accept wiki et al) as 'proof' - If you don't have a full set of Schaum's outline series or whatever books I quote from that's not my problem. I'm not rude, I do not use profanity, I have no bias towards anybody, whatever you say about me will not upset me, I do not respond to adhominems etc. I am here to pass on knowledge and help younger members where I can, IF I am not sure about a statement I will make it very clear, with a statement like "I think there are 9 planets But it's not my field so this could all be bollocks" - if you see that it means exactly what it says. I live in the UK, I have a God but not one any of you would recognise! Quote
Pyrotex Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 [snarl] All right, Titus! I'll see your Schaum's Outline, and raise you two Encyclopedia Britannicas!! [/snarl]  Quite an introduction there. I hope you live up to it. It will be fun!!! Pyro Quote
Buffy Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Greetings Titus! We're an autonomous collective so we won't actually "Hail" you! Thanks for reading the rules, that's appreciated, and I hope you find we treat you fairly around these parts: that is, no butchery (although beware there are slayers in these parts). Wiki isn't "adequate" proof for more controversial topics, but its just fine for the mundane references to reasonably uncontroversial topics, so we do use it a lot around here. If you worked on the Shuttle's IBM modems, just don't tell Pyrotex.... And although it makes many of us sad, there are, alas, only eight planets now... Have fun!Buffy Quote
Titas Aduksus Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 Thankyou chaps, I'd like to point out there are substantially more than 8 planets, why, only a month or so ago NASA discovered another 20 odd elsewhere in the cosmos... (gotcha!). Sadly no, my involvement was as I said with the space shuttle project, in fact a piece of UK inspection equipment used on recovered SRBS and also on the Jigs used to support the ET during manufacture. Had I designed the Entire shuttle, I'd still be around 4,970 years away from completeing the design... Now enough of this idle chit chat..TA,TA Quote
freeztar Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Great introduction! What are your interests exactly? (besides Physics and probably Engineering;)) Quote
Titas Aduksus Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 Well, I love to play the Piano, I used to use two hands, but since I suffered a stroke I am now, by an amazing miracle, able to play with just one hand! I am collecting data on global warming and it's effects, there is a large group who deny that man's activities are the cause. I had decided to collect data that is accepted by both sides of the debate, raw data from such places as the UK Greenwich Observatory, Mauna Loa observatory, and various other places, there's no bias, I want to find the answers for myself - either way. So far I have found absolutely nothing to show any discernible difference made by man. One hand, poor hearing poor eyesight in one eye, what else can I do? - Perfect Astronomy! - yep an amateur but with a keen interest. And just for a bit of fun, walking, cycling and thinking Every day I wake up is a good day. Plus there's the usual stuff, making toys (out of real materials) restoring a model steam engine, and generally trying to stay fit and keep the brain ticking over. Quote

Boerseun Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 HAIL TITAS!!!Sadly no, my involvement was...also on the Jigs used to support the ET during manufacture. Was Spielberg fun to work with? :eek2: Welcome, Titas - I'm sure you'll fit right in! Quote
LJP07 Posted March 23, 2007 Report Posted March 23, 2007 Quite an introduction, hopefully you won't be banned/censored here as you seem quite a character. Welcome to Hypography! LJP07 Quote
