lobices Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 ...who can tell me at what speed an air bag open after a impact?...thanks...
Tormod Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 Quim, you have such good questions...it takes me forever to find the answers. Which is a good thing, since it helps me learn new stuff. Since I have never ever seen an airbag inflate, and I believe I probably wouldn't have thought of timing it if I ever did I looked around the web. It looks like they open and inflate in less than 1/20th of a second. I don't know exactly how long it takes from the sensors notice the impact until the inflation starts, but I suspect it is an electrical signal and thus it moves at the speed of light (so it's instant in this situation). Here's a nice page:How does an airbag work? Tormod
