LJP07 Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 Here is an article about saying that Pi is wrong: "The proper value, which does deserve all the reverence and adulation bestowed upon the current impostor, is the number now unfortunately known as 2pi" Pi Is Wrong! Take it for what you will!
Jay-qu Posted April 10, 2007 Report Posted April 10, 2007 fool.. and if it where 2pi there would be just as many cases when you could say it should be just pi
freeztar Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 but pi/2 is much more eloquent than 2pi It's not a serious argument to me because the implications would lead to too much confusion and would create an unnecessary waste of time and resources. Even if the "new and improved" version is better in most circumstances, it's not a big deal...really. Fun read nonetheless...
Boerseun Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 You're all wrong. The best version of Pi is the Steak and Kidney variant.
Tormod Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 At any rate, this does not qualify as "News".
Guest chendoh Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 Pi is Never Wrong. The seriousness of your Quest is what Determines how far one needs to expand Pi. Apprientice!, Apprientice!,..........Damn, Where is that Fibonachi!!
ronthepon Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 Interesting thing to do when you've got nothing more useful in your hands... I suppose the inspiration was a case of excessive irritation at the repeated usage of the number '2' on a notebook.
sanctus Posted April 11, 2007 Report Posted April 11, 2007 I think he has some points, but he himself says as well that to change it would be to much work and confusioning. Jay, I don't think there are that many fundamental formulas (he cited only funndamental ones!) with only [math]\pi[/math] Chendoh, the guy is called Fibonacci (in italian ch is pronounced similarly of k in "key"...maybe a bit less strong), I know just a detail....

ughaibu Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 Why not just get rid of odd numbers, so as two is one?
spectrum disorder Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Pi is Never Wrong. In all respects the inevitability is that one day it will be wrong.
Boerseun Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 How can Pi ever be wrong? The relation between the diameter and circumference of a circle is set in stone. Take a tape and measure it, for dog's sake.
spectrum disorder Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 How can Pi ever be wrong? The relation between the diameter and circumference of a circle is set in stone. Take a tape and measure it, for dog's sake. Yes you are right, if I measure the diameter its always 3.14159... but sometimes things set in stone can be wrong
Boerseun Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 but sometimes things set in stone can be wrongNot if it always gives you the same answer, surely.
spectrum disorder Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Not if it always gives you the same answer, surely. “Alice laughed: “There’s no use trying, one can’t believe impossible things.”
ronthepon Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Suppose if every one in the world (one fine day) lost their memories and confused between icosahedrals and circles, well... :phones: Wait, suppose everyone forgot that pi is not spelled as pie? Else, pi will remain invincible.
Guest chendoh Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Gentlemen!....Gentlemen!...First things first! Sit Down for meditation! I am not sure how Ughaibu meant this , but shouldn't odd, be even? Why not just get rid of odd numbers, so as two is one?If one gets rid of Odd numbers.....two has nothing to revert to. Boe an Spect;I think you have a circular argument. The inevitability... Lies in the usefuness of pi. Just as newtonian physics, can send men to the moon, but not create critical mass, is a flaw that our species has to endure. All of Us, Have not existed long enough to be able to break the bonds ofMother Nature. It will be a journey through Mathamatics, beyond Quantum. That I will experience without the help of either. Because, Death transcends Space-Time.
