Europa Posted April 17, 2007 Author Report Posted April 17, 2007  Think of it as an inter-cranial orbital instability on Mr. ISA's part. I think you can safely just go around that. Welcome aboard. :) Thank you. With your advise, I will avert my attention from his "inter-cranial orbital instability.":hyper: Quote
Tormod Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 No reason, I was just hoping that the admin would know why the ISA user on this introduction forum was speaking like he had superiority over everyone who talked to him? I think the admin are wondering how you noticed that. Quote
Tormod Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 On a different note, I had the pleasure of talking to Seth Shostak in person at my workplace last year. Now that's one cool guy. Quote
Turtle Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 On a different note, I had the pleasure of talking to Seth Shostak in person at my workplace last year. Now that's one cool guy. Wow! What was the jist of the conversation? Seth appears regularly on the Coast to Coast AM night-radio talk show to explain the progress, procedures, etcetera of the SETI programs. It dismays me that on every occasion the show host(s) challenges him on whether or not they (SETI 'officials') will tell the public if a bona fide extraterrestrial signal is received. :hyper: The justification for this is usually a Brookings report from decades ago recommending to the government not to tell people if we find 'aliens' because the populace will come unglued. :hyper: Hope I haven't drifted too far afield...looking forward to a new SETI thread soon? :cup:  PS Have you scoped this thread yet Europa?http://hypography.com/forums/space/10328-seti-has-wrong.html?highlight=SETI Quote
Tormod Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 Wow! What was the jist of the conversation? It was off-hand about SETI stuff etc after he had given a presentation to a public audience at the space centre. It was very interesting to watch his presentation - he jokes about everything but in such a manner that you realize the guy knows exactly what he's talking about (and that he's used to be bullied about SETI...). Talking to him in person was cool - he is a laidback and very friendly guy, not to mention resourceful. It has been my passion to read the heart and language of our cosmos in hopes that one day she may impart to me her majestic and enigmatic eye for the natural distribution of life.:( I get the joke now InfiniteNow :hihi:. I was appending the word 'refractor' to my ED inquiries so I didn't get any Erectile Dysfunction hits. :D So is that scope the one you have Europa? She's a beaut I tell ya...a beaut! In going to the details section from the advert I found that ED refers to "extra-low-dispersion (ED) glass". Wouldn't have hurt anybody to leave the 'L' in that. Anyway, looks like the primary method for making ED glass is to add fluorite, but some manufacturers have other propriatory methods for making extra-low-dispersion glass. A beaut I tell ya! :hihi: Quote
