Tormod Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 I need to remove Ubuntu from my lappy because I need to space for Windows. I currently dual boot using Grub. From what I've read I need to use my Windows XP Pro disk and use the Recovery Console to run the diskmbr program. I can't for the life of me find my XP Pro disk. Can I use my XP Home disk? Both are full versions (not upgrades). Quote
sanctus Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Can't you, just on winddows, simply delete the ubuntu partitions and then assign those partitions to the windows partitions? Using something like partition magic? I did it this way when I wanted to reinstall linux. Quote
Tormod Posted April 22, 2007 Author Report Posted April 22, 2007 Removing the partition is easy, getting the master boot record straight is what I worry about. I don't have Partition Magic but I read somewhere that the Recovery Console could be used to reinstate the Windows boot manager? Quote
Boerseun Posted April 22, 2007 Report Posted April 22, 2007 Can't you just hack the boot.ini file? Quote
Qfwfq Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 We're thinking of going to the Moon again and perhaps even Mars, we're ready to try observing the Higgs boson and we're piecing the jigsaw of the universe toghether but we don't have PCs that any Tom, Dick or Harry can set up how they choose without the risk of loosing everything stored on the drives. Tormod Posted April 23, 2007 Author Report Posted April 23, 2007 ...but we don't have PCs that any Tom, Dick or Harry can set up how they choose without the risk of loosing everything... Sure we do, in the UK they call them "coppers". :hihi: (wow that was a deep one) :) Quote
Qfwfq Posted April 23, 2007 Report Posted April 23, 2007 What kind of antiseptic eyewash have you been reading mate? :hihi: Quote
