Darwin Exhibit

Hi Everyone.

I just came home from the Museum of Science in Boston. Today was the last day of the Darwin exhibit.

My class went to see it. It was amazing. So many interesting things.

One of the best things I saw was a live lizard. It looked exactly like a snake (it had no legs), but the guy who was holding it explained that it was really a lizard. The main differences are these: the lizard has an ear, it's tail is much longer, and it has chewing teeth, so instead of shallowing their prays these lizards can chew them

It was really amazing. The guy also told us that they don't have legs because they live in underground tunnels in the Galápagos Islands. It is much easier for them to crawl.

Anyway, I saw many other interesting things. We also went to see a movie about the Galápagos Islands. In the Omni Theater. That too was amazing.

Evolution is really interesting, and it is so fastinating what nature can create.

I love the Boston Museum of Science (cool location too! How many museums are *on* a river?), but then I like them all....

 

On the lizard, think about this: its exactly what happened to whales and dolphins, but for a different reason. Whales moved back into the water from land and adapted their limbs into flippers and a horizontal tail. That lizard found it advantageous to drop those limbs entirely because they were in the way! :hihi:

I love the Boston Museum of Science too! Too bad we had to hurry...The location is cool, I like the Charles River. It adds a lot to Boston.

 

And about the lizard. I was wrong, they actually don't live in the Galapagos Islands. It was just in the Darwin exhibit that is what confused me... I looked it up on the internet:

 

They are called 'European Legless Lizard' (Ophisaursus apodus)

And they live in the Balkans, along the Mediterranean.

 

I never thought of your expanation! Yeah, just like whales and dolphins are mammals, but live in the water. And the lizard doesn't have legs.

Anyways, about the lizard I just thought it was pretty cool. :)
