• collected enough beer bottles to build a scout hall (and that was just my father!)
  

• made billy carts if you were lucky enough to find some pram wheels thrown out
  
• had a large vegie garden
  
• had chooks ( and wouldn't eat them if dad killed them for Sunday Lunch)
  
• built huge bonfires on "Cracker Night- the greatest kid's day of the year.
  
• as kids roamed & played freely from dawn to dusk and only came home when hungry.
  
• listened to Tarzan on the radio
  
• went to 'Saturday avo' Films (with a beaut cliff hanging serial)
  
• rolled Jaffers down the theater's isles
  
• got the wonderful "Chuckler's weekly" kids comic/magazine
  
• when 'gay' meant happy
  
• had lots of half breed pets, dogs, cats, birds, (budgies), rabbits.
  
• ate rabbit stew at least once a week
