mmmm I've never had a good octopus :[

Why is fake crab Horrible?

It's always been quite the mysterious object from my perspective, and I'd like to know yours.

Intergalactically automatic,

Yep! As long as its not fake crab (shark meat mushed up and washed to remove all the oils) or tuna from a can (asked if it was fresh in a sushi restaurant once and got pretty mad when it turned out canned. Apparently fresh from a can!) used to make it a lot. I'm more of a sashimi man now though. Can think of some good raw without serious salivation.

Trevally is one of the best. Any tuna, kingfish salmon or trout - the pelagics- are great raw. Bottom feeding scumfish like snapper or cod not so good.

As slith indicated above, its other fish--usually things that people don't want to eat, and not always shark, but a combination of things--highly processed to remove any taste of those other fishes, slightly flavored with an artificial crab flavor, pressed into "strips" and then painted on one side with some silly day-glo pink food coloring. Just this side of "sausage." It tastes and feels nothing like real crab.

Actually, I'll take canned crab over fake crab *any* day. But fresh is nice if you can get it...

I think wasabi can clean out sewer pipes. It packs a punch.
Yes, I've used it as oven cleaner....

Well, I don't like fish, and I don't like rice, so for years, I'd just tell people that I probably wouldn't like sushi. I tried it a few weeks ago, and discovered I was right - I don't like it.

It's not terrible, but I wouldn't choose to eat it over most other foods.

Yay, Dave! ;)

I love it when someone is willing to admit that they don't like what everyone else says they do! That takes *courage*!

Kudos to our own most courageous admin dude! :)

Just be sure to take those Omega-3 supplements....its good for you!

I love Sushi and I think this poll is fun. I've had Sushi on both coasts, and in-between, and in Japan. I applaud anyone who tries Sushi. It shows a curious and experimentative approach. Although I love or like most Sushi, there is some that I didn't like much, to put it mildly. And, if you like Tubes-style music, and if you don't draw any conclusions or concerns from the lyrics (I can't remember them and I'm not sure if I ever knew them), the Tubes do have a song with the word Sushi in the title and having something to do with Sushi.

That said, on a more scientific note, although these polls of course are not scientific, I wonder what it means, or could mean, if anything, that the Sushi poll (started May 5, I think?) has 18 votes, 33 replies, and 226 views, while the "morality" poll, started in this area on May 2, has only 15 votes, 13 replies (many of them regarding the mechanics and administrative things associated with the poll itself), and 307 views? Are we scientists afraid of the topic of morality (I don't think so?), or is it just too complex to think about, (it is complex, but we don't shy away from other very complex things), or is it too difficult to pick from the 10 options given, or what else is it? And can we offer a small prize for participation? (Only joking, Buffy.)

Cheers to all. Now I'm tempted to go get me some Sushi! "hug"

Sorry, a correction to my just-previous post: The Sushi poll had 23, not 33, replies before my post, I think.

Have you ever noticed the button by your posts? Hit that, you can correct it. ;) Botta Bing. When you reach 1K, you can even delete posts. Ahh...

I like the little bursty orange eggie things. ;)

EDIT: Perhaps people find sushi more interesting than morality. :)

Do you prefer the tiny ones or the big ones?

I love them both, but I really like the big ones because they really *burst*!

Keep your mouth closed: you'll collect fewer bugs, :)

I, too, enjoy them both very much. I like the bigger ones (I think the orange may be salmon, but don't feel like Googling to verify) by themselves. They are almost sweet, and have a velvety texture. However, on roles of various sorts I prefer the smaller ones, whether orange or black. Roe are fantastic.

I need to better acquaint myself with cavier. See what the similarities are. I'm halfway there, as I already love good champagne, cheese, and pate. ;)

Regarding InfiniteNow's thought or hypothesis or fun comment, that "perhaps people find sushi more interesting than morality", there could be some truth to that, and that's partly why we could possibly risk, some day, eating all the Sushi out of the oceans or, more possibly (but for similar reasons) overheating the planet. The reason that the press doesn't cover important issues as much as they might or should, and often doesn't cover them intelligently, is that the press-media can't make as much money by doing a great job covering those issues as they can by covering other stuff. I'm not suggesting, of course, that the fun stuff shouldn't be covered. I like my share of fun stuff. But, as a species, we are a bit too distracted with either misc. stuff, or with matters that we think are vitally important but really aren't quite that important, or with just the daily tasks and pressures, that we get distracted from smartly addressing the bigger problems. Oh well, our kids will have to figure them out??! :)
