Seriously! By pushing to give up in Iraq, the Democrats are digging their own political grave. The war there is nearing a turn, after which, people will be disgusted with the faint-of-heart, gutlessness of the “left.” This is the scenario:

Iraq is on the verge of being partitioned. It will end up a southern Shiite nation, a northern Kurd nation and a western Sunni nation. Here is the mechanism by which this will take place:

Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Sunni Islam is alarmed and deeply concerned over the increase in power of Iran and the domination of Iraq by the Shiites. Likewise, the Administration is determined to cut back Iran to size. Of course, Israel is of the same mind. The only problem is that the car bombing that is killing our troops are Sunni insurgents. So, we and Saudi Arabia are working with the Sunni insurgents in Iraq to eliminate the Al Quida operatives. To accomplish this, we have to motivate them, and our motivation is the promise of self-government and, in lue of oil reveneau, we and Saudi Arabia subsidize their government.

The Iranian, Shiite government of Iraq will, of course, resist; but we have the troops and hence the power to accomplish it. When the roadside bombing of US troops stop, the Administration focus will then turn to the civil war and then the idea of partition will be leaked to the press. It is a winable solution. Our troops, the green zone and our monstrous embassy will all be in the Sunni area. It will then be the right time for the Kurds to declare their independence as well. The Shiite stump of a nation that is left will be helpless to stop the process.

what your suggesting, is a possible solution to the internal struggle, but has been publicly dismissed, by the Bush Administration. maybe because the end results would be a terrorist stronghold, in one section or that the sectarian issues are not then resolved.

for any form of elected government, to succeed all parties have to have control to the limits of their population, but equal rights to the total. although very slow this is working toward that end.

my sincere hope is, no solution short of the intended goal is implemented for American political gain. certainly Bush has not thus far indicated or practiced such tactics and the reason i give him credit. if things work out in the future, the party in charge will get the credit in the short picture which he also knows, however the problem in total, goes well beyond Iraq, Afghanistan or even Iran....
