cockydude Posted May 17, 2007 Report Posted May 17, 2007 now i really need help. This particular maths assignment i have (IB math portfolio) requires me to find conjectures from number patters. i figured out most of em except this particular one which goes like1^k + 2^k + 3^k 4^k +...... + n^kcan anyone help me with coming up a conjecture with the above sequence?THANKS (:help would really be wonderful Quote
Nootropic Posted May 22, 2007 Report Posted May 22, 2007 if k is greater than or equal to -1 the numbers will form a sequence that does not converge. If k is less than -1, they will form a converging sequence. However, this doesn't mean a sum can't be obtained for the nth partial sum, check out summation formulas Math Refresher: Summation Formula Quote
