I've been told headphones increase ear wax production/flow rate.

I've also found this to be true.

My question:

Is this a + or - affect?

Ear wax is an evolutionary adaptation that keeps bugs and other junk from getting to your ear drum. I'm not sure increasing its production is a good thing.

 

Increasing its *flow* can be better done with heat, which is why its a good thing to switch the sides of your head that you put on your pillow at night to let it warm up and drain naturally.

 

If you let that wax build up, you're gonna need to visit and Eye/Ear/Nose physician who will scrape it out for you (not fun!)...
