Michaelangelica Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 Lovely, funny, intelligent woman educator saying simple things that we, and all teachers, need to be reminded ofhttp://mpegmedia.abc.net.au/rn/podcast/current/audioonly/orr_20070506.mp3Listen Now - 06052007 | Download Audio - 06052007 Brisbane educator Jennifer Riggs discusses children who have serious problems with auditory processing. Studies have shown that a third of us are strongly visual-spatial learners and many children cannot learn through being talked at, but will learn better by seeing and doing. The fundamentals of learning are the five senses, but how many of them do we use in teaching? Queso Posted May 31, 2007 Report Posted May 31, 2007 It's true. You can talk to a classand no one would hear a damn thing.Lots of people learn hands on, and visually. This is easy.I've always liked auditory learning 'cause it sparks visualizations, and I actually have to think therefore learning is an inevitability. Nowadays kids are hyperactive because the planet+cosmos are too.DO NOT FEED THEM AMPHETAMINES. PLEASE! Kids don't want to sit and learn anymore.I think we need to go back to our rootswhilst applying everything we've ever learnedwhile climbing up this tree of life. Kids want to go out and do it, but how can they when most parents are disgustingly overprotective? America is a reallyreallyweird place. It confuses me on a daily basis. Quote
