Michaelangelica
What are we doing to our young? We want them to be beauty queens, body builders, singing/acting/dancing /sports stars. It is so sick. BTWThe NSW State Government regulations on "annoying pilgrims" were thrown out of court.Thank God we still have a sane, intelligent judiciary in this country. A pity that can't be said about our politicians.

We want them to be beauty queens, body builders, singing/acting/dancing /sports stars. It is so sick. I think we have our sick movie culture to blame that for that. On another subject, just seen Chris Bowen, (I think it was any way) a Labour minister, on ABC lateline discuss global warming and carbon trading. According to Bowen the science is all done, nothing to discus, and the IPCC report is the Labour party bible on AGW :phones::lol::phones: I hope our Prime Minister Kevin Rudd wakes up to the fact that he is being 'ill advised' by the IPCC report. The evidence grows by the day, ... by the hour infact, that the IPCC claims re AGW is the biggest lie of the century.

Moontanman
So how about the 10 year old body builder:AdelaideNow... Concern over youngest bodybuilder It's great for 10 year olds to be fit and healthy, but body building just doesn't seem right for someone so young. That's not quite as bad as Little miss beauty pageants but it's not far off.

Michaelangelica
Yes, true. Those little miss beauty pageants are creepy. Just let kids be kids.Similar are the "bump and grind" dance classes for little girls.Totally sexually inappropriate moves more suitable for sleazy pole-dancing bars. There is an awful lot of this sort of age-inappropriate dressing and dancing in my local area.Dance is VERY big with girls locally. Probably the major girl's sport. You can even study it in high school as a HSC elective subject (HSC = final NSW high school exam - 17-18 yo kids- and major matriculation exam) Australia has just got bigger by roughly the size of 10 New Zealands. Australia has been given permission by the UN to extend its continental shelf . Something about a shallow continental shelf and a few more islands joining in.This from a kid's news programme.Behind the NewsBehind the NewsSo are we bigger than the USA now? A lot of the Pope's young pilgrims froze while sleeping out at various functions. They thought Australia was hot? A emergency call for blankets had to go out. temps were cool at night 4-6C but about 20, clear cloudless, at day. Kiddies it is called "Winter" (Australian snowfields ar bigger than Switzerland and full of snow at the moment. The pope apologised to the wake of human carnage the clergy of the Church has produced in Australian sex victims; and he met some of them personally. A few Anti pope condom sprukers were given short shift and ignored by most. Cardinal Pell called for more babies; so we should see that in about 9 months with 100,000 ? ragingly, hormonal young Catholics sleeping out together.THE Catholic Church says it will not co-operate with any safe-sex campaign to educate 500,000 young pilgrims expected to flock to Sydney for Australia's biggest religious event.http://bp3.blogger.com/ The NSW Department of Health will have to go it alone if it wants to develop and disseminate any messages about safe sex (it didnt it was left to afew protesters
Flying Binghi
so we should see that in about 9 months with 100,000 ? ragingly, hormonal young Catholics sleeping out together. I think somebodys missing the Catholic message here - No condoms are needed because there is to be No sex outside of marriage. ...... which is probably why I was an atheist from my teens onwards :) And back onto another topical Oz subject - I foregott to mention in my previous post, that the flustered Chris Bowen (Lab.) was up against an amused Tony Abbott (Lib.). Tony Abbott had mentioned a Dr David Evans (consultant to the Australian Greenhouse Office from 1999 to 2005) article, where he wrote "There is no evidence to support the idea that carbon emissions cause significant global warming. None. (and) ...The Labor Government is about to deliberately wreck the economy in order to reduce carbon emissions" The Dr David Evans article - No smoking hot spot | The Australian

Even if it is known that one of the marriage partners has HIV/Aids. I think anti C. chuch activists are most annoyed by the Church's attitude to condoms in third world countries. It is such homicidal hypocrisy from a bunch of "celebrate" men in pretty dresses and red shoes.Although perhaps Cardinal Pell only wants western, well off, Catholic babies- not the 200 million hungry people we are producing every year. ...... which is probably why I was an atheist from my teens onwards :hihi:Yes it certainly helped my conversion And back onto another topical Oz subject - I foregot to mention in my previous post, that the flustered Chris Bowen (Lab.) was up against an amused Tony Abbott (Lib.). Where does he hail from?He seems to be out of step with many in the scientific community:-http://svc237.bne113v.server-web.com/crc/ecarbon/publications/annreport/ar00-01_ch3.pdfHow come a 'hot spot' is so important? A lot of people, especially farmers, could make a lot of money from carbon credits; especially if their organisations and our governments latch on to Terra preta. I find Abbot a total sleezebag. LOL... Michaelangelica, I never got to the stage of knowing what the Church's attitude was to anything re marriage. The Church's attitude to condoms seems wierd to me, though thats their problem :hihi: We can hardly blame the Church for poverty and Aids in third world countrys. I note that Europe, America and Australia progressed mightily in the last couple of hundred years, whilst being under the sway of a far my influential Church then the one we got today. I'm thinking third world problems are more the fault of government corruption and miss-management. Blameing the Church is just a diverter - much like Mug-a-be blames white farmers/England/Aliens/whatever, for reductions in food production. Michaelangelica, I do find your coment about Pell to be a bit absurd. Perhaps his attack on the faith of the Church of Al Gore Worshippers upset you ? The Church's attitude to condoms seems wierd to me, though thats their problem :) That's the point. It is not THEIR problem it is OUR problem. Encouraging the spread of Aids and unwanted pregnancies is cruel and evil.We can hardly blame the Church for poverty and Aids in third world countrys. I note that Europe, America and Australia progressed mightily in the last couple of hundred years, whilst being under the sway of a far my influential Church then the one we got today.Well I don't know. Look at how colonial powers screwed these countries. (and continue to do so with our agricultural subsides. What drought afflicted African farmer is allowed to earn $400 a week off farm and get the Dole during a drought and given massive financial drought aid as in Australia? A pensioner is allowed to earn $26 before his/her pension is reduced. Australian aboriginals did very poorly under the 'benevolence' of the various Churches. I'm thinking third world problems are more the fault of government corruption and miss-management. Blameing the Church is just a diverter - much like Mug-a-be blames white farmers/England/Aliens/whatever, for reductions in food production. I am not blaming the church, third world poverty is caused by many things, but the Catholic Church is not helping. *When there are ten kids in the family and both parents have died of Aids?*Where miss-information and sexual ignorance abounds and people are kept in superstition and ignorance. (Many south African men believe having sex with a virgin will cure your AIDs for example).* Where priests who do speak up (as in S. America) are removed. The Church objects to any sex act that may be performed without the possibility of a pregnancy. This is their stance on condoms and any contraceptive pill. They interfere with the 'divine purpose of the sex act.' i.e. procreation. As if a priest would know. The sex act performs many more purposes than procreation. Michaelangelica, I do find your comment about Pell to be a bit absurd. Perhaps his attack on the faith of the Church of Al Gore Worshippers upset you ?No, although I think Global Warming denialists are just being silly. I have not seen the Gore Film.(There are a number of threads on the GW topic here at Hypography-you might like to join in?)I object to Cardinal Pell encouraging more people for an overcrowded planet. Just as I object to the middle class welfare of the $4,000+ baby bonus. The planet does not need more babies. Pell's call for more is environmentally irresponsibe and possibly racist. We can get all the babies we need from Africa. The only two countries in the world with Baby Bonuses are Australia and Japan You still did not give me any info onWho is Dr David Evans? Where does he hail from?I had friends working in the Australian Greenhouse Office over the period he says he was "consulting" (see despair.com.'s definition of a consultant- below:)). I was surprised to see the good work they were doing getting industry to reduce greenhouse emissions voluntarily and by persuasion. Something I did not expect of the Howard Government. How come they would be doing this if they didn't think carbon was a problem? How hot, is a "hot spot"? - perhaps that discussion should go to the GW threads I note you have been invited to one above. That would be a good place to post the Evans article.Warmest wishes, :)

Flying Binghi
Encouraging the spread of Aids and unwanted pregnancies is cruel and evil. Michaelangelica, I carnt argue with you there. I will note though, that there are non Christen countrys around the world that have poverty, aids, and huge population growth. ....and to escape from this Christen defender mantal that I've blundered into, I will say we're a long way off-shore now (off the "Australia" thread topic)I will leave you with the final say re the Church - I am not blaming the church, third world poverty is caused by many things, but the Catholic Church is not helping. Look at how colonial powers screwed these countries. (and continue to do so with our agricultural subsides. What drought afflicted African farmer is allowed to earn $400 a week off farm and get the Dole during a drought and given massive financial drought aid as in Australia? There are a number of threads on the GW topic here at Hypography-you might like to join in? Yes, I've been slowely reading through the main thread. As I hav'nt finnished reading the thread yet, I will stay out for now. As global warming/climate change is a major political issue in Oz at the moment, I wonder if, for discusion purposes in this thread, we accept that climate change happens, and there is a possiblity that the climate may heat up/cool down by a degree or two. (whether it is human caused or not to be left to the AGW threads)

There are a lot of GH gasses apart from CO2. Including half a dozen new ones we have made ourselves ( also water -which no one seems to mention) Now to the important issues???--Religion (Notice the number of hits on the religious forums here at Hypography! Astounding for a science site) The bonhomie came badly unstuck on Wednesday when Fisher was asked at a press conference about a man whose two young daughters had been raped by a priest in Melbourne. One girl eventually committed suicide. The other turned to alcohol, but now she needs 24-hour care after being struck by a drunk driver. The reply was a crass insult. Before he took the cloth, Fisher was a lawyer at the high-flying firm of Clayton Utz. His words had all of the lawyer about them and nothing of the priest. "I think most of Australia was enjoying, delighting in the beauty and goodness of these young people … rather than dwelling crankily, as a few people are doing, on old wounds," he smarmed. This airy dismissal of a hideous crime might harm his campaign to succeed his mentor Pell as cardinal archbishop, but it is unlikely to prove fatal. Irreverent priests in the Sydney Diocese, amused by Fisher's soaring ambition, call him Boy George. Flying Binghi
...and while we're talkin about the Pope and the Churchs attitude to sex, I came across this quote today - "Last month, the Pope spoke out against violence on television, the internet and film warning it was causing 'great harm' to society. Pope Benedict, 81, said: 'I ask myself, could anyone standing face-to-face with people who actually do suffer from violence and sexual exploitation explain that these tragedies, portrayed in virtual form, are considered to be merely entertainment" I have to admit I took no notice of the Popes visit to Oz, though after reading His comments about puriel movie violence, I'm starting to warm to the chap. The quotes can be found at the end of this article 'Violent movies are to blame for knife crime wave,' blasts Sir Richard Attenborough| Showbiz | This is London
