sanctus Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 It was quite a while I wanted to propose you a bet: who gets first two 500 posts! Usual T-shirt rules, with the members as witnesses. I wanted to propose you this bet, because you were always behind me, never much but always a little and now when I decided to eventually post it, you worked hard and if you agree to make this bet you start with advantage...... sanctus Posted January 13, 2005 Author Report Posted January 13, 2005 well, maybe a smaller advantage Quote
sanctus Posted January 13, 2005 Author Report Posted January 13, 2005 and we can still discuss if we actually want the winner to get something.... Quote
Tormod Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 I'll sponsor a t-shirt for the winner. Quote
pgrmdave Posted January 13, 2005 Report Posted January 13, 2005 sure, I'll accept the bet, sounds like fun! Quote
pgrmdave Posted January 14, 2005 Report Posted January 14, 2005 Just know that I have a lot of free time on my hands, and I fully intend to win this bet :) Quote
sanctus Posted January 15, 2005 Author Report Posted January 15, 2005 On the other side I've two hard exams coming up (Quantum mechanics II and statistical mechanics),so my free time is quite far away! Quote
Bo Posted January 15, 2005 Report Posted January 15, 2005 statistical mechanics was probably the least intersting course i have ever followed.... is that the same in geneve? Bo Quote
sanctus Posted January 16, 2005 Author Report Posted January 16, 2005 No, because the prof is great, he makes it very interesting (he even offered a toblerone to the one who arrived to show how to calculate an integral, nobody arrived so he gave it just to all of us (you know we are not many i.e about 20 in the third year)). I also find it very intereting, because after years of hearing about bosons and fermions we eventually had a course that explained what it was very well. I agree that if it were just classical statistical mechanics only the boltzmann distibution would be a bit interesting, but the quantum one is very interesting! Quote
