Is there any chance that Dr. Robert Foot is on this forum? I have been trying to contact him about the latest in Mirror Matter but so far no luck.

Michael

Just out of curiosity Moontanman, why are you interested in contacting Foot?

I wonder if he is not onto a TOE (theory of everything).

Google *Dr. Robert Foot*, think the third site, gives an email address and all you should need....

I was talking to him a while back but I lost his e-mail address when I changed computers a year ago or so. I wanted to ask him about a couple of things pertaining to his reserch on Mirror Matter. I have looked online but I couldn't find a e-mail adress that worked, possibly I didn't look hard enough. His theory is very interesting. I am interested in hearing about how it is going. Most of the stuff online is out of date by about a year or so. I figure if anyone has up to date info it would be him.

Have you found his email? If not try here.

Would you care to discuss anything pertaining to mirror matter here in this thread?

Perhaps the discussion could become interesting.

I for one would be interested to find some recent papers or articles about the subject. If you do find something please let me know.

Thanks

At the moment I am curious to know if there has been any closer indication of the strenth of the matter/mirror matter photon coupling. I read his book and it seemed to indicate the coupling was going to be quite weak but so far no real proof had come out. If the coupling is high enough some really odd things become possible. Like frictionless bearings and if it is high enough mirror matter could be used to bottle up antimater since mirror matter wouldn't react by turning to gamma rays unless it contacted mirror antimatter. I can even see a space ship actually powered by mirror matter and anti mirror matter held in matter tanks. Maybe really dense matter could be used to hold the mirror matter and used for the combustion chamber. since the amount of heat transfered would be less than the amount of actual force applied it could be the space ship fuel of the future. But this is nothing but pure speculation and as DR Foot has said the photon/ mirror photon charge coupling is probably too weak for any of this to be true.

Dr. foot and I may have come up with an experiment to give the existance of mirror matter a pretty good boost. I wish I still had acess to my lab back at Du Pont!

Hello Moontanman,

Can you be more specific?

What kind of experiment have you and Dr Foot come up with that could potentially give the existence of mirror matter a boost?

What at Du Pont would you use for this experiment?

A Very accurate set of scales and a very accurate centrifuge.

A Very accurate set of scales...

What exactly would you 'weigh' on a set of scales? By definition, if I understand, mirror matter is not detectible in the real world (albeit in particle accelerators according to a few afficionados), or as Foot explains, by its gravitational effects: "Mirror matter is perfect to explain dark matter. It's dark and can only be detected through its gravity."

...and a very accurate centrifuge.

Michael

What would you look for in a cetrifuge. I fail to see how a centifuge could possibly seperate mirror matter (also called Alice matter, or shadow matter) from ordinary matter, or how a cetrifuge could aluminate something that, again by definition, cannot be seen.

Question: did you get a response from him at his email address? I did not get a response from him to the question(s) I asked him or about the specific points I mentioned regarding the 'mechanism' behind mirror matter.

You haven't read enough of his book but it has to do with photon- mirro photon interaction.

I have read non of the book. I have however seen much of what is online.

I still fail to understand what a centrifuge could possibly have to do with photon-mirror photon interactions.

If there is a website or other online that deals with this topic could you direct me there. That way I won't have to pull your teeth out trying to get a full sentence answer to my points.

It is after all an interesting topic to which much has yet to be written. For example it must be elucidated its operational mechanism (if indeed Alice matter it exists). From what I have looked at so far Foot has not yet made such a discovery (one which would clinch mirror matter as something physical rather than metaphysical, as it sounds to date).

some how I deleated several paragraphs of about how this works but a thunderstorm shut me down. I'm not going to try it again. I'll try again when the storms clear out.

yeah, we had a couple of pretty bad days. In spots we had over 18" of rain. I am hesitant to discuss the exact way that a centrifuge is is used to detect mirror matter but being relistic It's unlikely I'll ever get to use a centrifuge to seperate mirror matter from matter. The idea was to get a mixed sample (how to possibly do that was my idea) and use a centrifuge to expose the sample to several gees of pressure so that mirror matter is squeezed out of the test tube leaving behind only Matter.Weighing the difference should give you the percentenge of mirror matter to matter in the smaples. If it worked it would have beeen a quick and easy way to check for mirror matter.

Yes, I got a response from him, I wish he could get the funding he needs to prove or disprove mirror matter. if you want to talk more about it reply, I've been off line with heath and finacial problems. Everything is still going down the toilet but why should I quit trying to think until i am on the street? so far I still have electricity and a computer!
