andrewgray Posted June 12, 2007 Report Posted June 12, 2007 Hello, I am Andrew Gray. I live in Austin, Texas and have worked in the electronics/software industry for about 20 years. I am actually a physicist in engineering clothing. But since physicists know alot about electronics, it is a good match for me. I am most interested in General Relativity and Quantum Theory. You will see what I mean when you read my posts. Thank you again for running this site. I tried running a physics forum once. The spammers are bad, so I know that it is work. Andrew A. andrewgray Posted June 12, 2007 Author Report Posted June 12, 2007 Hello again, I want to continue with the introduction. I have degrees and Mathematics and Physics. I was at the University of Texas studying General Relativity with John Wheeler. I got a job offer at Avtec Corporation that I just could not refuse during the Tech Boom. So off I went. Andrew A. CraigD Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 I have degrees and Mathematics and Physics. I was at the University of Texas studying General Relativity with John Wheeler.Very cool? Did you publish with Wheeler? Do you have an Erdős number? (publishing with Wheeler guarantees you at most a 4)I got a job offer at Avtec Corporation that I just could not refuse during the Tech Boom. So off I went.Your history resembles mine – except that none of my professors have wikipedia pages :friday: Welcome to hypography. I look forward to your posts. A few of Wheeler’s students (eg: Frank Tippler of Tipler cylinder fame) have reputations as wild and crazy physicists. Quote
InfiniteNow Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Ever met Don Winget? I took an Intro to Astronomy class in the RLM building (or, was it perhaps Batts Hall???) with him nearly a decade ago that changed my life. He really infected me with his passion on the topic. Quote
andrewgray Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 Did you publish with Wheeler? No way, as I was way too green. It seems like GR takes a lifetime to understand. I left physics officially, but I spent the next two decades studying GR and QM on my own. A few of Wheeler’s students have reputations as wild and crazy physicists. I can't wait to see what you think about my radical, but raw logic ideas. I will post as soon as I become a level 1 member. Andrew A. Gray Quote
andrewgray Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 Ever met Don Winget?Ouch, Don is about my same age, so I never got to meet him. Do you have an Erdős number? No, not yet. Andrew Gray Quote
InfiniteNow Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Ouch, Don is about my same age, so I never got to meet him. No foul intended. I haven't yet crested 30 myself. However, if you know he's about your same age, you at least are familiar with his name? As a side note, you may wish to avoid entire posts in other colors. It conflicts with what Hypography eyes have habituated to, and may make your posts more difficult for the popular audience to follow. The number of trips one has taken around the celestial sphere has no impact on their desire to understand. Quote
