Mercedes Benzene Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 Well we're 3 days of practice into the cross country season, and this morning we ran our time trial just to get an idea of where everyone on the team stands. I completed our course (the one from my last post) in 19 min 40 sec. It's not as good as I had hoped, but that's okay since we just got back from summer break. I suppose I shall consider that my entry.:hihi: Quote
Tormod Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 I'm preparing for a marathon so I'm unable to do a lot of speedwork. I've ran a 5K in 26:05 which I consider decent enough... :eek2: Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 I still think it would be really cool if all of us could get together and race. Maybe at the next Convention. :eek2: Quote
TheBigDog Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 I am doing a very consistent 50 minutes walking the dog 5K. An even 6km/hour. I have been losing some weight too. I am down from 270 to 255. I started a diet a couple weeks ago, and that has helped. Now I just need to stop all the traveling so I can do my routine more routinely. Bill Quote
Chacmool Posted August 21, 2007 Report Posted August 21, 2007 Very proud of you, BigDog and Tormod! :pirate: Tormod 1 Quote
TheBigDog Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 It has been a while since I posted here. I have been suffering from a very sore foot, which I have learned is a case of plantars fasciitis. I have been told to cut out walking as much as possible until the foot gets better. So I have gotten a bicycle (or two) and I have been doing 5K by bike with the dog instead. The dog loves it because he gets to run and really burn off some energy. I bought two bikes. A nice Schwinn for myself, and a tandem that I have been riding with my son Bryan. The tandem bike is a whole new world to learn. There have been some mechanical issues; bent rear wheel, rear brake linkage coming loose, shifting mechanism out of adjustment; but those are being fixed. The challenge with a tandem is the teamwork and the weight. If the person you are riding with is not helping then it is a VERY heavy bike to pedal. I have really enjoyed the switch from walking to biking. But winter is settling in on the north coast this week, and I may have to get myself some warm riding gear. In case you are wondering why I have not posted any rover pictures, it is because I was spending my money on bicycles. Pictures will follow at some point. The tandem is in the shop for a week. The Schwinn is sweet. :hyper: I am down to 231 from 270! Bill Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 Foot injuries suck BD. :DBut it's always a plus when you know you're getting healthier. As for me, the cross country season is winding to a close. I've got my 5k season best time down below 18:00 minutes though!Maryland State Championships are this Saturday, and then it's on to nationals Thanksgiving weekend! Quote
