alexander Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 So, as usual, bored at work, i was reading through slashdot, and found a thread that linked me here: Genuine Windows is Ubuntu - Ubuntu Forums Basically people describing how they validated their linux as "Genuine Microsoft Software". This particular case comes with a video (lol) this guy running IEs4Linux decided to download the validation software and ran it in wine and voila, it validated. There is another guy that reported running IE6 in crossover office and validated via ActiveX.... Funny, genuinely unpackaged widndows installs dont validate all the time, their software could not validate a dell restore of vista on a machine and locked it up, i have at least 3 friends that had to go through the whole call microsoft get a rep and then go throughd the revalidation process all over again, and yet genuine ubuntu running genuine wine validates no prob..... gotta love that :) Quote
Buffy Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Well you know *why* don't you? M$ claims that all *nux implementations contain their proprietary code. They're just establishing that they have the right to go to all Ubuntu users and extract their pound of flesh...eventually.... Establishing rights you don't have,Buffy Tormod 1 Quote
alexander Posted June 19, 2007 Author Report Posted June 19, 2007 but then reality strikes them, because neither wine nor any of its offsprings, like cedega or crossover actually contain any microsoft binary, library or code... Quote
Tormod Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 but then reality strikes them, because neither wine nor any of its offsprings, like cedega or crossover actually contain any microsoft binary, library or code... Well, you see, Mr Gates wrote all of these *before* he wrote Windows... :omg: Quote
