cardyz Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 My friends and I are thinking of doing a science fair project testing what brand of detergent would be the best. We are using detergents that actually remove the stains from the cloths, not just covering it up. We are thinking of using a colored stain that is also a solvent. We put the stain on pieces of cloths. We then dip it in the detergent for an amount of time. Then we take it out dry it and then rinse it in water and dry it again. We then dip the cloth in the solvent of the stain, and precipitate it or triturate the solution to then find out the amount of stain left on the cloth. We are not sure if this will work, so we are just wondering if it will be doable, and if so, what sort of solvent and solution we can use. It would be best if its something we can easily buy or make or find in a high school science lab. Thank you! Quote
