snoopy Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 I can’t quite pick up on the subtle nuances of your screams of frustration, snoopy, but I get the impression they translate roughly as “getting a spacecraft to go .5 c isn’t that hard, Craig, so stop with all the calculations and sweating the small stuff.” If so, I gotta disagree: getting a spacecraft to go .5 c is very hard, and the stuff I’m sweating isn’t small at all. No sometimes I just like to scream for no reason, its kind of the weird charm that I have. I wasn't saying going at 0.5c is small potatoes at all, its very difficult and I did all the calculations when I was 13 or 14 years old using my dads old college physics books so no I don't feel the need to revisit it. All I am saying is that even with no 'miracle tech' (like warpdrive or something like that) or a never-ending energy source (like ZPE for instance) it's still possible for humanity to radiate out into the galaxy at sub-light speeds that was it, and that travelling at 0.5c is not fundamentally impossible within the next few thousand years given the geometric progression of energy. And in terms of interstellar travel travelling at 0.5c is useful. Oh and the time effects start to become noticable. Ah, we’re not all that bad! I even have a wife, kittens, and everything  Yes I can imagine, never said you were bad just a bit mental  Glad your with me on 2 and 6 just cannot help extropians just aren't getting enough of 2 and 6 and therefore want to convert to roboticism instead of catholicism. :cup: Anyway my original post and this post too wasn't supposed to be taken too seriously ... I know never... you don't say.... hence all the screaming.... I should have known better really.... I have been bad and will go sit on the naughty step. :D Cheers:) Quote
