hlawsen Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I was merely a lowly "rocket scientist" before I relocated back to the great NE. Actually, I was the life sciences disclipine manager for the payloads office of the International Space Station. I had to collaborate with domestic and international payload developers /scientists to develop and implement an integrated set of science requirements and processes to exploit the research potential of the ISS. That basically involved functioning as the scientific liaison and user representative to improve mission performance science goals at lower cost through participation at design reviews, technical interchange meetings, readiness reviews. My last 3 years at NASA were spent collaborating with research scientists and hardware developers to design flight certified freezers (-80oC and -180oC) for ISS based science and determined required modification of ground-based experiments to succeed within microgravity constraints. Because of all that, I was chosen to serve as a member of the International Space Life Sciences Strategic Planning and Biological Research Project Science Groups, and the Space Station Utilization Advisory Subcommittee Quote
