NLN Posted June 30, 2007 Report Posted June 30, 2007 A few years ago a young amateur physicist named Peter Lynds proposed a radical new theory of time. It gained a lot of press, but I haven't heard anything about the young man since. Has anyone else? Quote
LaurieAG Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 Hello NLN, Here's his home page. Peter Lynds - Home Quote
snoopy Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 It wasn't that radical based on ancient greek philosophical argument. I prefer Planck's view of time. Quote
NLN Posted July 2, 2007 Author Report Posted July 2, 2007 Thanks, Laurie. Do you know anything more about Lynds? I heard that he is writing a book on cosmology, but haven't heard much else. Quote
snoopy Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 To JungJedi, Take the fastest thing in the universe ( a photon) Take the shortest measurable distance in the universe (planck length 1.6 × 10^−35 metres ) Time how quickly the photon would cover that distance end up with Planck Time approx 1/ 1.855×10^43 of a second. Therefore time is made up of these quantas of time called the Planck Time. It's a practical approach of what you can actually prove. simple referencePlanck time - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Cheers ;) Quote
