It refers to the biochemical of the soil we call 'Humus' the common name or 'Humic substances' which are products of soil chemistry that are essential for a healthy and productive soil. Humic substances include the Humic acids that behave as flexible aliphatic-aromatic, highly functionalized molecules that can act as photosensitizers, retain water, bind to clays, act as plant growth stimulants and scavenge toxic pollutants. In short their presence defines a top soil with a rich dark color and a wonderful aroma. Soil Humics are an important componant of our work in Priming Pedogenesis the creation of soil!

Just found the Science Forum today and it seems very interesting. Looking forward to reading the many ideas and experiances being posted.

If you can explain humic acids and humus roles in plant nutrition you would be most welcome to the hypography garden Forums :wave2:

welcome
