Tormod Posted July 8, 2007 Report Posted July 8, 2007 Welcome to Hypography! ;) What does "soil humic" mean? Quote
Soil Humic Posted July 8, 2007 Author Report Posted July 8, 2007 It refers to the biochemical of the soil we call 'Humus' the common name or 'Humic substances' which are products of soil chemistry that are essential for a healthy and productive soil. Humic substances include the Humic acids that behave as flexible aliphatic-aromatic, highly functionalized molecules that can act as photosensitizers, retain water, bind to clays, act as plant growth stimulants and scavenge toxic pollutants. In short their presence defines a top soil with a rich dark color and a wonderful aroma. Soil Humics are an important componant of our work in Priming Pedogenesis the creation of soil! Dr. Michael hi doc. :) i love that smell. ;) what's up with the 'no till farming' i've casually heard about? does tilling screw up all the proper arrangments of highly functionalized molecules etcetera? :hihi: ;) Quote
