Queso Posted July 10, 2007 Author Report Posted July 10, 2007 That doesn't explain ingestion.I was thinking those capsules would work good, but I don't have any.Tea, maybe?(It smells like feet) Quote
InfiniteNow Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Well, all I know of are either a tea or tincture perhaps. Whose feet? :phones: Quote
Queso Posted July 10, 2007 Author Report Posted July 10, 2007 I don't understand what a tincture is...so you put some herb in a jar with some everclear for a month, strain it, and then what...I have valerian vodka? yuck... what am I supposed to do with that? Quote
InfiniteNow Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Good point. More of a rub that way. Tea it is! Or, you could always make brownies? :phones: Quote
InfiniteNow Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Questions and Answers About Valerian for Insomnia and Other Sleep Disorders Quote
Monomer Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I found this info on how to make valerian tea: Prepare valerian tea in the morning by adding 2 tsp. of valerian root to 2 cups of warm water. Let stand until the evening. Strain and warm. Add 1 tsp. of honey and drink 1 cup after dinner and 1 cup before going to bed. Sleep, Herbs, Herbal Medicine, sleep disorders, insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, RLS, Alternative therapies, mind-body medicine, integrative therapies I've read a number of times to not use boiling water because the valerian will lose some of it's properties. You can make a tincture and then add about 20 drops to warm water and drink. Here's how to make a non-alcoholic tincture if you prefer: Non-Alcoholic Tincture Make an alcoholic tincture. Evaporate the alcohol. Put twenty drops of the tincture in a cup of water. Add one-fourth of a teaspoon of boiling water. Making Remedies Quote

Michaelangelica Posted July 14, 2007 Report Posted July 14, 2007 Capsules are rubbish-throw them into the compost. Make a tea from freshish Valerian root -about a teaspoon or two to a cup. You know it is fresh because is smells like fresh vomit You may like to add some peppermint to disguise the smell -the TASTE is OK Valerian just carms you & helps you sleep. It is a very safe herb to use. To my knowledge only some forms of mugwort induce dreaming.(See Jeanne Rose's "Herbs and Things") (High doses of B vitamin are said to give you color dreams -not black and white) Quote
Queso Posted July 16, 2007 Author Report Posted July 16, 2007 I always dream in color. Someone tried to tell me"it's a proven fact we dream in black and white"and I laughed my *** off in their face. Thanks for the information, angelica. And yes,It smells like vomit feet. Quote
Ganoderma Posted July 25, 2007 Report Posted July 25, 2007 ya you can buy them in gel caps...but i mean buy empty gel caps and put your valerian in yourself. you can buy pill making supplies pretty cheap online, makes some things easy to swallow...although i dont find Valerian THAT bad, mine wasn't like "vomit feet" thankfully.
