So, how far are you all going on your summer vacation this year?

Folks in the southern hemisphere can prognosticate into December or tell us where you went last January....

If you're going twice, pick the farthest distance, and if you feel like it, tell us all where you're going and what form of conveyance you're using!

The farthest I'll travel this summer will most likely be California... since the State Dept. isn't being very cooperative with the whole passport situation.

We'll travel by airplane of course, and we'll most likely stay in Carmel, and perhaps travel north for a day or two to LA.

Besides Cali, I'll also be in WV for running camp, and then it's off to NC for the Outerbanks. Finally, I'll make a short trip to Connecticut, but California wins the distance challenge. :phones:

You've got to stop using those Australian maps, MB: they're *so* confusing!

Very true. My mistake. I admit I don't know very much about the place... other than when I was a little kid I went to a lantern festival and ate at an amazing restaurant where I had the most magnificant creme brulee.

My mouth is watering.

What's this strange word/concept you used?

Vay Cay shun... Hmmm. Not familiar with that. :phones:

Understandably.

Unfamiliarity with the word is due to one of two things:

  • You speak English, in which case the proper term is "on Holiday"
  • You speak American, in which case you are unfamiliar with it because you only get one week a year and the boss makes you use it to go to conferences to use up/protect your "training budget."

Sorry for the confusion on using such obscure terminology...

Oh! That. Why yes. I have a *vacation* in Dallas to learn some new modules, a *vacation* in Philadelphia to learn support tools, and another *vacation* in Toronto to pick up on data cube reporting fundamentals. ;)

I too have four weeks. Not likely I'll use them this year, thassall. :cup:

I have driven about 1000 kilometers so far, will probably hit 2000 by the end of the vacation. And yes, I have a *real* vacation, completely free from conventions and courses. So I chose to spend it with a backache and a penicillin cure for a throat infection instead. Yay! :turtle:

I'm not one for travelling, and I've never really had a summer vacation. All I want to do during my annual leave is to sleep in, lounge around, spend time in the garden - relax, relax, relax. I'm happy enough to not have to go to work!

I think the furthest I'll go during my holidays, which I have to wait five months for, will be Mum's house for christmas (about 33km from my house).

I've recently taken up painting, so I'll probably visit a few nice spots to take some pictures of scenes I'd like to paint.

I have three weeks. Not likely I'll use them this year for a real vacation,

I usually break up and make long weekends out of it.

and spend my time working around the house or on my cars/trucks.

We went to Washington, DC for 4th of July week. It's been a long time since I was there and my wife's never been. Not nearly enough time, but it was great. There was that tornado warning when everyone had to get off the Mall, but by nightfall weather calmed down again and the fireworks were great.

I guess going via stopover at DFW made it an over 3000 mi. journey.
