Hi Folks.

Just wanted to mention my new book on the periodic table.

Eric Scerri, The Periodic Table: Its Story and Its Significance, Oxford University Press, 2007.

It has been described as the first comprehensive treatment on the subject since van Spronsen's classic which was published in 1969. In fact van Spronsen says so in a review on the back of the book, along with reviews by Peter Atkins, John Emsley and KC Cole.

Please check out details on Amazon or any other relevant book site.

The book is written at a Scientific American level and has been reprinted 3 times already since it was published about 9 months ago.

I teach chemistry and also History & Philosophy of Science at UCLA and am looking forward to some interesting discussions here having just joined earlier today

regards,

eric scerri
