I know we have SciFi fans here, but I'd be interested to know about fantasy...

My kid is at camp, so I don't have to stay up until midnight tonight, just leisurely go in next week...

Is that you Hagrid?

We have to be at my girlfriends house tomorrow morning early in case nobody's home to accept the delivery. :hihi:

What I will say, however, is that the new movie kicks *** at the IMAX with 3D. ;)

We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.

Yes! I am.

In fact, I'll be leaving for the store in about 20 minutes.

Yes, I'm one of "those" who stays up until midnight to buy a book; but I'm not that obsessed. I promise. :hihi:

I can quit anytime I want to. ;)

I pre-ordered the book online as a birthday present for my boyfriend's sister. As planned, the book arrived today - just in time for her birthday. However, one of her friends had the same idea and beat me to it. ;)

It seems like I'll be reading me first ever Harry Potter book...

You can make it interesting by reading the series backwords Chacmool. :cup:

BTW, I think Harry Potter is great ,regardles if you're a fan or not, in that it gets kids really excited to read.

Seeing kids put down the X-Box and PS3 controllers to go read a book is pretty awesome! ;)

Also wonderfully remarkable is that the author was a struggling homemaker and turned herself into an internationally acclaimed author with over 350 million books published! It is a great motivational story and business model.

No, I didn't last night. When I drove past the local Barnes & Noble, there were about a thousand people gathered at that one store. Quite amazing. I'm not a huge fan of Harry Potter, but I have read the first couple books out of curiosity, and they remind me a lot of C.S. Lewis and Dickens books I read as I was growing up. I can see why they're loved and admired. Not of a lot of fiction is written like that, with greater candor, love, humor, and humility.

I started reading the Harry Potter series when I was in either the 5th or 6th grade (11 or so years old)... and now as a person entering into their sophomore undergraduate year in college (19 years old)...

I'm still obsessed.

So yes, I went to Wal-Mart last night and stood in line for 30 minutes to get my copy.

I reread all the six books prior to the release of the 7th to refresh my memory for the final book.

I finally finished the book this afternoon, and it was amazing.

Although, I must say I am now... sort of depressed...

I waited so long for the story to end, and now I'm sad that I will no longer be able to anticipate a new book.

Everything begins and ends. :bouquet: But it doesn't mean we can't expect new books from J.K. Rowling. We can love and admire the authors as much as their works.

I haven't read any just saw the first two movies I think...just like rac. It's not that I'm against it at all but it isn't a priority at all. MAybe I'll read them to my kids the day I may have some...

Maikeru, C.S. Lewis' books are quite more religious than fantasy to me so not really comparable with harry potter..

Very True. It's not always what the kids read, just as long as they read. I don't suggest little kids read some of Wes Craven's writings or Stephen King for they might have nightmares. Read children Read, Everyone Read!
