freeztar Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 In light of the latest tradgedy in the space tourism business, I've pondered this question, and I ask you: Would you embark on a trip to the space station if money were not an issue? It's a dangerous trip, but may be worth the risk for some people. Does anyone have any statistics as to the casualty rate for manned space flights? Quote

Here's a link on wiki, which is nice because it splits the data in a few ways (like where it happened and to whom). At the time of this posting, it doesn't reflect the SpaceshipOne accident yesterday. Space disaster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Quote
REASON Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 I'd be all over it. The Earth that is. To view our beautiful planet from that perspective is something I've always dreamed of doing. The closest I've come is the 3-D IMAX movie about the ISS at the Kennedy Space Center and the Mission Space ride at Epcot. Those were pretty good but nowhere close to what I imagine the real experience to be like. Sure, there's a risk. But sometimes in life you have to take a chance when it comes to doing something truly extraordinary. Quote
DougF Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 If they told me I could if I left right now.I Would be right there wouldn't even pack. Quote
Tarantism Posted July 28, 2007 Report Posted July 28, 2007 i put maybe but i think i would probably stay on earth. i love this planet...and i dont think that i could find anything in space that i love more. while it would be very cool to be one of the first to explore the frontier, i think i would much happier wathing people go and then having less people, cars and pollution here! yay! Stargazer Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 Yes, without hesitation or doubt. I would go even if we weren't going to the ISS. Quote
