Who is limiting your thinking?

I am kinda new here and I would like to know why everyone has a limit to their ability to think,who made the law of physics?just because some people could not get beyond a certian point,I guess they got together and made it a law,and I guess that law is designed to keep others from going beyond that point,and I guess they glorify themselfs by knowing they are keeping others from excelling beyond that law,for example perpetual motion,antigravity,teleportation are they bound within the law of physics or just bound by what others has pounded in your head.Just because many others has fail in their effords they made it a law...c'mon...I know that someone has better smarts than to be{fooled} by a law .....I'am a dumd ole country boy and I've broken that law of thinking....

in some areas, i would call thinking out side of the box a wonderful thing. i am certainly guilty of it myself many times. appropriate areas such as social sciences, philosophy and psychology are good examples.

 

but in physics i feel that there arent really any ways around mathematical evidence.

 

but heck, what do i know, im just an explorer not a scholar. :thumbs_up

without some kind of proof everything is merely speculation. having a hypothesis is good and all, but it wont hold much water until you have evidence.

Please, do tell how you've managed to break the law of gravity, and why this law was put in place to glorify the intelligence of scientists and limit some people who are... how'd you put it?... unable to get beyond a certain point.

 

 

Give me a break. There is no "law of physics." There are "laws" plural (that means more than one, by the way), like you cannot get more energy out of a system than you put in, or the more accurately you know the position of an object the less accurately you know it's momentum.

 

Talk about being self-centered. "It's hard because they don't want me to understand it. It's not fair. :Exclamati They're so elitist." (that means they think they're better than you.).

No one at hypography or in the world in general has, to the best of my knowledge, any preordained limitations on his or her ability to think. As this is a text-based website, it is limited to people who have access to the internet, and can either read and write, or have assistants to perform this task for them, but otherwise, no limitations of thought are imposed.

Many people, over many centuries. How many centuries depends on ones definition of physics, in particular when one considers it to have become a recognized subject.

I’ve seen no evidence that hourlythinker’s guess is correct, and am at a loss to imagine a plausible situation in which one could prevent another from excelling in this way, even if one wanted to.

The evidence that no perpetual motion, “antigravity” (other than everyday devices such as elevators and aircraft), or teleportation machine has been created suggests that they are prohibited by either the nature of reality or inadequacies in our current understanding of physics. That many people who have had very little pounded (or gently inserted) into their head have, despite considerable effort, failed to create such devices suggest that this failure is not the result of having ideas pounded into ones head.

Again, I’ve seen no evidence of such a thing happening, and fail to imagine how such a thing could even be done.

 

I get the impression that hourlythinker is confused by the multiple meanings that the word “law” is used to describe. Public law, such as those imposing criminal penalties for such acts as killing other human beings, are not the same as Physical laws, such as Newton's laws of motion, which provide useful means of predicting the action of physical reality.

I’ve no reason to doubt the first of these 2 claims.

 

I’m unaware of any “law of thinking” that one could break. Perhaps hourlythinker means that he has broken many rules of punctuation, spelling, and grammar? Hypographers in particular, and web forums in general, are rarely strict observers of these rules. Hypographers tend, however, to be strict adherents to the rule that one should attempt to make sense while offering original ideas, neither of which, IMHO, hourlythinker has yet show signs of doing.

 

A couple of bits of advice to hourlythinker:

• Although the watercooler forum welcomes posts of an informal and unscientific nature, provided it is not insulting or aggressive, most of the other forums require that all of the site rules be followed, including the rule requiring evidence backing up ones claims. If he were to make posts such as he has made in this thread in those forums, hourlythinker would almost certainly receive 9780 leading up to, or an immediate suspension of his posting privileges at hypography.
  
• This sort of writing he’s made so far tends to be unpopular among science enthusiasts, who are the primary contributors and audience of this site. If hourlythinker continues posting such writing, even in the watercooler forum, it’s unlikely that many people will have good feelings toward him, and likely, nay, certain, that he will receive negative 7215, labeling him as a person not to be listened to or respected.

Thinking is limited to the capabilities of our language and interpretation of our sensory systems to facilitate natural comprehension (my own theory). Taking the objects of the mind and putting them into practice is always the challenge. Practice is what determines the laws, but it does not limit the thinking mind.
