When we were in the final stages of the clean-up after a lengthy lawsuit, I chatted with the people from the MN PCA who were supervising the final stages. I was told they were finding natural attenuation of many contaminates and they believed this occurred on my site.

Simply put, we knew what should have been there when we tested the site over 30 years after the contaminate was dumped. What the tests revealed was a significantly lower ppm than we expected.

What I was told is the PCA and several different companies, regarding several different types of contaminates were finding these results in multiple sites being tested.

I was also told in some of these cases, the PCA and companies involved have not discovered what exactly is going on. If its a microbe/bacteria doing it, that hasnt been discovered yet. If its some other process, they cant define it yet. All they know for sure is something is changing some of these chemicals that were once thought not to bio-degrade.

So today I found a link to some of this stuff.

Natural Attenuation of Groundwater
