In recent days tehre has been some large storms around the globe, so i thought it may be fun to post the ones that are affecting you, or not (hopefully).

We just had a fairly big one.

Typhoon Sepat which was damn windy and fairly rainy. it has been raining since the typhoon before this one which was smaller but wetter.

this little bugger was not really that big a deal for Taiwan but damn did we get wet. in my village we say about 1 meter of rain every 2 hours. i had to walk stomach deep in pretty fast moving water holding on to the fence to go check the in laws :pirate: i am ok with the windy ones, the houses hold up here....but the rain just sucks!

We have been struggling with drought in significant portions of Minnesota all year, then this last two weeks we have been getting some very powerful storms. I had a very weak oak I took down just days before the weather turned. If it came down I would have lost at least half my home. I lost a huge branch off one of the oaks on the north side of the house. Neighbors lost trees too. Then the big storm hit.

Lightning hit so close to the house it blew out a breaker, and killed a GPF outlet. I think I found the strike spot but I was never as good as my brother at finding those. This one strike blew the cat off the bed. This same storm closed down parts of a town near me with so many trees down over the roads and hanging off powerlines. It also tore up northern Minnesota pretty bad in the Brainerd lakes area.

This week, we have had extensive flooding south of the twin cities, houses off foundations or flooded, roads washed out, mudslides and flooded croplands. One report had 17 inches of rain dumped on one town.

wow thats bad. i don't understand why 17 inches rain fall could cause that much damage. we had maybe a couple meters over a week and i don't think 1 person died...and not too much damage. is it in a valley or depression or something?

its amazing how in some spots a little rain can amount to so much and maybe so much damage. thankfully where i am it rains and runs away. we may have 3 foot deep floods...but once the rain stops its all gone in a few hours.

either way it sounds bad....hope all is ok now!
